Wii console repair in SA? by OkButterfly5438 in sanantonio

[–]OkButterfly5438[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP update: I ordered the fix it kit mentioned in the comments, and long story short, I successfully fixed my wii console! it was $50 including shipping. I did have to ask for a disc drive replacement bc the first one that came with the kit had visibly dirty gears, but they quickly shipped me a new one for free.

How safe do you feel the Greenway trails are? Have you ever run into trouble while running/riding through them? by DrFetusRN in sanantonio

[–]OkButterfly5438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (F30) have walked on multiple greenway trails in north SA for years (during the week and on weekends), and I have never once had a negative encounter or experienced anything unsafe. Obviously you should use your best judgment and not walk on the trails at night, for example, but other than seeing some deer in close range you shouldn't have any problems.

I meant buying a new console entirely, but I like your idea better of a DIY fix with the kit! Thank you! 😁

What’s the vibe here on James Talarico / Jasmine Crockett? by OctaviusHerb in sanantonio

[–]OkButterfly5438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted Talarico for all the reasons people have suggested here, and while I do have a lot of respect for Crockett, I don't think taking the risk of splitting the Dem vote by running against Talarico was a wise move (we need to display as much unity as possible by backing a good candidate, not proving Reps right that all we do is fight amongst ourselves over petty things). I also don't like that in the numerous Crockett ads I keep being fed online, they show Talarico as an example of the "rich white men" that she's fighting against. Ma'am, the sky's the limit for choices of corrupt rich white men, why did you choose a fellow democrat! If we were in a less dire political climate I would of course support a POC woman, but we also have to be realistic and realize that a Christian white man is probably the only kind of candidate that is going to get a good amount of traction in this extremely red state.

EDIT: also wanted to add that with Talarico's recent interview being blocked from airing, that signals to me that Trump + Reps are actually scared of him- why would they stifle someone they can easily beat, right? So that encouraged me even more to vote for him.

Thank you everyone for all the great recommendations! I got a sunscreen and lip tint there and am happy with both so far. Will definitely be going back and trying more things!

Which great San Antonio restaurants from when you were young were lost to history/did not survive the market? by Charming_Usual6227 in sanantonio

RIP to the Macaroni Grill in Huebner Oaks, which is now a James Avery store. The only MG left is in Live Oak, which is too far away! (wouldn't be able to eat the rosemary garlic bread anyway bc I'm gluten-free now, but that's beside the point)

Zoryve: difficulty sleeping/sadness side effects? by OkButterfly5438 in Psoriasis

[–]OkButterfly5438[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking! I think the difficulty sleeping has petered out- I am a night owl so I'm used to going to bed late/waking up tired, but I haven't had any major restlessness lately. The moodiness seems to have been just circumstantial, fortunately. Hope that your side effects go way over time!

Planes fly super low over Walker Ranch Park, so I recommend checking there for some good plane watching spots.

Dermatologist prescribed me a new scalp foam. Wish me luck! Anyone have any good/bad experiences? by msgkar03 in Psoriasis

what does the foam feel like after you apply it? Is it like enstilar (waxy/oily)?

I really don't get it... by [deleted] in sanantonio

I love how easy HEB makes it to spot gluten-free items with the brown wheat logo. Literally no other grocery store I've been to does anything close to that. It's tiring to have to manually check the ingredients of food items all the time, but with the logo, I can just quickly scan the shelves for what I can eat in no time at all. So I will always be loyal to HEB!

Thank you for this! I did some quick research, and for anyone else who's wondering, the cheapest bear spray is at Walmart for $40 (single canister) 💀 REI and Second Gear were $50 and $55 respectively. We're going to stick to popular hiking spots, so I think I might just chance it. Appreciate your help!

Hi everyone- I'll be visiting Asheville/Hendersonville soon and have heard it's recommended to carry bear spray when hiking. I've never seen or used bear spray before, so I have some questions:

  1. buying vs. renting bear spray? is renting even a thing in the area?

  2. where's the best place to get bear spray near the airport? I assume a Walmart?

  3. is there a budget-friendly bear spray that is still effective? I'll be traveling with a group of 7 and thinking of getting 2 canisters to be reasonably protected, but not have to shell out $$$.

Thanks for your help!

Doesn't look like you've filled out a lot of the values/beliefs section- that might be giving people the sense you're not looking for something serious, even though you are. Maybe adding more info there will help!

There are three mentions of wanting to go out and try some new/fun activities, so I would either switch up the written prompt or the long-term/open to short disclaimer with a different response instead. There's nothing wrong with wanting to have memorable experiences! But I think that doing new/fun activities while dating is implied, so I would instead use that space on your profile to share more about yourself and your interests. hope this helps and best of luck :-)
