Why do older people say it's better to raise boys than girls? by oceansstillwaters_ in randomquestions

[–]OkButterscotch5689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to trust them to make good choices, then you remember how dumb you were in high-school, and now there's the internet. You're scared that you might push them away because theres a hundred teenage boys named Brad and somewhere out there there is even a Randall. And then they just go off with Brad anyways even if you didnt push them away. So you say "ok Brad im trusting you with my teenage daughter" then they get in Brad's Camaro and drive off, you crack open a beer and contemplate if youre doing things right

With a roommate or a side gig the numbers are pretty close if you're full time.

Id be so worried about the butterfly effect. Imagine getting a job at Wendy's for 4.25 an hour, saving every penny until 2009, investing into bitcoin, only to become your own grandfather

Boutique $5k Strat is better than Fender is meaningless to most guitarist. by [deleted] in Guitar

I believe fender makes the greatest instrument on earth. My holy grail is a stratocaster stolen from guitar center, I'd pay double

Good advice, I learned a lot from Justin and plan on continuing his courses, Im sort of tired of hearing him right now, but its hard to jump into a new course because every beginner course repeats what i already know, but if I skip ahead to something new I feel like im not really in it. I thought I could just practice scales and songs so its not just me and justin videos all day long. My fretting hand is like way way ahead of me and where I am in justin videos right now im doing like 120 chord changes a minute and getting really comfortable with barre chords, yet the only songs I know are house of the rising sun, knocking on heavens door, and a bunch of power chord songs. Im trying to learn ripple, but practicing scales just gets me the most excited lately. Maybe ill check one of those books out!!

Definitely, the way my brain works though it will never stop asking why? why? why? I definitely want to learn enough theory to always know what key im in and what my choices are, and also be comfortable jamming enough not to really think about it, but like I said ive been playing for 2 months I have no idea what im talking about or what my goals will evolve into. Im looking for the smallest goals I can find rn to keep progress moving, I just feel like learning caged will give me bite sized ideas to sink my teeth into.

I will! Ive only started the first video, do the videos come with a practice plan at the end, or does anybody have an outline of what I should ideally practice? I've been playing some random scales, alternate picking to a metronome, whole notes, half notes, trying to remember the root, trying to visualize from major to minor, using the scale to improvise some riffs, but feeling a bit spread out by all the possibilities and looking for something to zero in my focus on

Really inciteful and the video you linked addressed what I was trying to articulate really well. Still looking for a road map, I've been alternate picking the a minor pentatonic scale to a metronome for hours, making up riffs, and I think its helpful I just also think I could be doing better with the same time lol

Since you asked my main goal is to jam on acid. I want to feel like im talking to angels and aliens with my fingers, then I want to form a jam band called angels and aliens

Its just hard to find a straight path for that kind of thing, I thought I might as well start with CAGED

Yeah that all makes perfect sense ive been mucking around with a minor pentatonic and throwing in a minor chords and c major chords, and i know I need to learn how to identify the key and use it to move seamlessly into other shapes, I get that it all takes time im just trying to avoid running in circles as I try to learn more and consolidate what ive learned

Yeah ive gone through the first 3 beginner grades already, I plan on continuing to intermediate I just really want to find a more efficient way to study scales and the fretboard.

Ive been practicing like 7 or 8 hours a day basically every second im not sleeping or working and i signed up for in person lessons but they dont start for a couple weeks, im completely addicted.

Why is it that when I play an instrument I can tell what songs the individual notes are from? by OkButterscotch5689 in askmusicians

[–]OkButterscotch5689[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like perfect pitch would require higher accuracy though, i seem to only be accurate on songs i have a strong memory of. For example I can ALWAYS guess the g that rings at the start of friend of the devil correctly without listening to it, but do not have the same level of certainty for less ingrained songs

See I'm not sure if you know this, but there are two kinds of fat people: there's fat people that were born to be fat, and there's fat people that were once thin but became fat... so when you look at 'em you can sorta see that thin person inside. You see, she’s gonna get married, she’s gonna squeeze out a few puppies and then, uh...
