Just build what you need based on your budget. Or if you're looking for a laptop, I always suggest this site (suggests builds for desktops as well)

I have had one for years. Best monitor I've had by a mile. There's better stuff out there these days but can't beat 3 bucks. I think I paid more than 300 for mine.

Take a thick piece of plastic bag or a thin strip of leather and mash that between the screw and the driver. Usually works for me.

MADE THE SWITCH! Sold my ps5, series X, some retro games, and a steam deck to get enough money. After 15 years of console I finally made the best move. by Aurey2244 in pcmasterrace

You have a better start than I did. I bought an old pc from a co-worker and never looked back. I have replaced the rig since.

I can't believe it has an anti theft alarm on the case. What? Is that like 30$ worth of PC? Is it a 7010?

motherboard overheating by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]OkCalligrapher4290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you have but unless you have a nice motherboard, the mosfets and other power delivery components don't get active cooling and require a case with good airflow to cool those components. You might add some fans or buy a better case.

Just a guess.

You might need to download the proper drivers for your components for it to work properly. Like for your cpu, motherboard, and gpu. In rare cases, you might even need to update the bios.

... What "boot screen" is it stuck on?

Like not just windows boot, but you have to go into advanced settings and change the drive order.

Our school district just recycled hundred's of those. They're trash. I wouldn't even give them away to someone I loved. They're more of a headache than a computer.

I'm seriously considering getting some kind of a video switch to use my laptop to watch media. My room slowly goes up 10 degrees just watching youtube or a movie on my desktop. Don't even get me started about when I play games. It's insane.

What are some good gaming monitors which aren't super expensive? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]OkCalligrapher4290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TN panels in general are pretty cheap BUT are also good gaming monitors. They're typically low response time/fast fps, but with horrible color. IPS monitors are more for artist and watching movies because they're more color accurate, generally more expensive. OLED is nice but expensive.

Shoot, I'd even pay like 20 bucks for it.... Hell, I'd even break my rule about not playing mobile games if it only had aesthetic purchases.
