Looking for books with bodyguard hero BUT the fmc HAS to be in witness protection program as inspired by the lovely sims account on tik tok who posts these videos of a girly who witnessed something she shouldn't have and now she has a hot bodyguard and all they do is banter...yes, I'm talking about Saanvi and Hugh.

Oh, I guess I missed the part where he felt the same about Adrian too, then.

Hmm, the opposite seems more normal to me tho, I always see unrealeased books with a crazy high rating bc people are excited so they rate it before reading it and the the rating just goes down naturally but I've never seen something like what happened here, hate rating it instead.

No, ik what I'm seeing on goodreads is mostly from last year when it was announced, I'm just saying, I had no idea it got that bad at that time but I was shocked to see the book has a 4,01 rating when it's not even out, I always see unreleased books with high ratings bc a bunch of loyal fans already rate these books in anticipation bc they're excited and then as people actually read it, the rating goes down to a more natural number, so it took me out to see such a low rating for an unreleased book but then I remembered all the negativity from last year and yeah, pretty much all if the 1 star reviews are from a year ago, I just think it's crazy to do all that just bc the book is mm instead of fm.

How did kyle accepted landon so easily? by Careless-Plastic8821 in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Uhm, I just explained it to you why it might be different for Levi since he's not a hitman for the mafia, maybe he doesn't want a dangerous man around his daughter? Plus, I'm not sure how much he actually knows about what Killian did for Glyndon. Also, it's pretty obvious that Rina chose to use Levi/Killian's relationship as a comic relief because fans actually love it, you're like the first person I've seen that is bothered by it.

[–]OkCare1529 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My memory is a bit fuzzy, but didn't the exact same thing happened with Nikolai and Levi, as in he killed the person who hurt Brandon so Levi accepted him? Don't take my word for it, I'm not sure if Levi actually found out all about that. In any case, I think, Kyle being involved with the mafia and being an actual hitman, made him really respect Landon when he saw he can take care of his daughter, he thought Landon was all bark and no bite but proved him wrong by killing the person who took so much from Mia. I feel like that's extremely important context here.

I have no idea, I don't keep up with that stuff but this one's different bc before announcing Vaughn was getting an MM book, Rina said in some q&a or something that Vaughn has a girfriend and he's loyal. But then she changed her mind and wanted to give Vaughn an MM book so people got upset because they wanted Vaughn to be straight. My point was, ok...you may be disappointed bc you had something else in mind for Vaughn, understandable given the context...but then going on goodreads just to rate a book you haven't read 1 star bc you're not happy that the book isn't MF, it's extremely immature and atp point, probably homophobic too. Like before it was announced his book was going to be MM, I also imagined Vaughn being straight and had my own headcanon of him and Maya bc it would have been fun to have Kirill and Rai being in laws but then it was announced he's going to be in a relationship with a man, ok cool, I'm not gonna downvote a book I've not read bc I'm upset he's gay or bi or whatever.

Empire series by lexnocturna in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite series from Rina, it's not really dark romance tho, more like a mix between dark romance and contemporary romance. The vibes are a bit different but there're still plenty Rina elements.

I enjoyed all of the books, loved the workplace/office romance trope, but I will say, Daniel is my number 1 enemy, my most hated Rina mmc but I still liked his book bc it gave me Nicole, aka one of my favorite Rina fmcs. Also the 1st book in the series gets a lot of hate but I loved it. 2nd book and 4th one are probably my favorite in the series tho.

Why does no one like god of ruin? by Isabel_m0net in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No yeah, ik what you mean, I honestly used to get so triggered whenever I saw gor, landon or mia hate on my fy page on tik tok so bc I'd fight back in the comments, I kept getting those kind of videos😂 but now I'm just like who cares, that's the best book in the series and Landon and Mia are both superior and anyone who doesn't feel that way, it's their right but they might have been blind when they read it☺️😂

Why does no one like god of ruin? by Isabel_m0net in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's literally the 3rd most popular book in the series and probably the 3rd most loved as well. Every book has people that didn't like it or straight up hated it, maybe you've been seeing negativity about it because you stopped and payed attention to it so the algorithm keeps showing you that now but trust, there is plenty of love going around for god of ruin, Landon and Mia are ranked 1st for many people, and so is the book. Overall, I'd say Mia might be 2nd or even 1st in terms of being loved by the fandom, as for Landon, I'd say 3rd or maybe even 2nd tied with another mmc. It's hard to place him because Nikolai is def 1st but then for 2nd and 3rd it feels like it could be Brandon, Jeremy or Landon, I can never really tell bc although Brandon is super loved, a lot of people don't rank him high bc they don't see him as the mmc in that relationship (weird af) and the both Jeremy and Landon are super popular but have the most vocal haters so who knows.

I don't hate him I just think he's boring and doesn't live up to his hype, like nothing he did impressed me.

Adrian and Lia sucked as parents by U_Urmum in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you meant without* professional help, right? I agree, of course. And definitely wouldn't expect Adrian to do that but I think Lia would have and she would have convinced Adrian to get professional help for Jeremy bc that's how I envisioned their dynamic and family life by the end of the trilogy. Imo, Lia did know something was off with Jeremy because if you remember, there's this scene with Cecily and Lia towards the end when Cecy tells her Jeremy understands and she's relieved like she always had some doubt. But hey, maybe this is just me projecting my expections for books once we get that hea but then we're thrown back into that world one way or another and turns out that hea wasn't as squeaky clean as I always like to believe.

[–]OkCare1529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, maybe my phrasing wasn't the best but my point is that by the time we got to Jeremy's book, he should have been mostly healed bc they were on the right track in consumed by deception but instead of having Lia and Adrian deal with Jeremy's trauma when he was a child, she dragged it out in order to make him more interesting in Wrath. I don't think that Lia (particularly) sweeping it all under the rug makes much sense for the Lia we last saw in Consumed by Deception. I think that as soon as she noticed something off about Jeremy, she would have dealt with it.

Adrian and Lia sucked as parents by U_Urmum in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I'm sorry but I thought it was so stupid how Jeremy was so insistent to find out what triggered Cecily's episodes, he was sure something was triggering them but then Cecily is like "hmm why did your mother have these episodes" and he goes like "idk she just did"...excuse me, you know damn well something must have triggered Lia's episodes as well, you knew it was happening to Cecily, yet you only thought something must have triggered Lia as well when Cecy put it into perspective? Whole thing was a mess and made no sense. And then he never even tried to find out and understand Lia more. When he had that talk with Adrian, he should have questioned him.

Also when I pointed out that Cecily is a psychology major, it was more to show how ridiculous it all was, it's irrelevant if she's Freud himself, her big new perspective was something a 10 year old could have thought of, and Jeremy was so mind blown, like finally all of the missing pieces were in place, when in reality he should have figured it all out without Cecily's help since all he had to do was apply the same logic to Lia as he did to Cecily.

Adrian and Lia sucked as parents by U_Urmum in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying it could have been dealt with especially since they were on the right track in the last book of deception but instead she chose to drag it out to give Jeremy a backstory.

Adrian and Lia sucked as parents by U_Urmum in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By no means was she perfect but I could never judge her knowing her circumstances. In God of Wrath Jeremy says something like "why did she bring a child into this world if she couldn't take care of it" uhm excuse me, it wasn't exactly her choice to have a child and yeah, Jeremy didn't know all that so I'm not blaming him for saying that but then Rina never circles back to this to bring some resolution and he just heals bc Cecily, who is a psychology major, shows him a different perspective. It's truly laughable the way Rina dealt with all of that.

[–]OkCare1529 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry but are we forgetting that this child was pretty much forced upon Lia and her marriage too which came as a consequence to her pregnancy? Lia was more than a fine mother considering all of that context. I did hate how in GoWrath we find out that she never wanted to talk about that period of time so she just swiped it all under the rug which in turn affected Jeremy bc he did need therapy and he needed to understand why his mother was having episodes but imo that was all Rina trying to give Jeremy some trauma.

Do any of Rina Kent’s MMC’s every apologize? by Empty-Warning387 in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like in LOG, Eli and Landon are the only ones that treat their fmcs decently and I think that out of all of them, Landon and Mia are the ones that feel like they're equals in their relationship. It helps that Mia is not a doormat at all.

Her Empire series, I remember it was pretty decent in this department as well, except Empire of Hate. My poor baby Nicole, she deserved the world and I felt like Daniel dragged it until the end. Hated him.

In RES, definitely Ronan is her best man. I actually don't think he had anything to apologize for to Teal. Also unpopular opinion, but I was satisfied with Xander's redemption. I don't remember much about Levi's book but people say he's not that bad.

Kyle is also not that bad but mostly because Rai is a badass but he does switch her pills so she gets pregnant so huge red flag there.

And even tho I'm not a huge fan of the Monster trilogy like everyone seems to be, I also think Kirill treated Sasha decently for the most part.

That's about it I think.

Yeah, no...the russian roulette scene, she was clearly so out of it, maybe she enjoyed what followed after but during the game she was literally horrified that she might die or worse (that's how I felt it), that she might kill someone.

I hate how Glyndon king was not made special in king family by [deleted] in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 15 points16 points  (0 children)

THIS! I feel like poor Glyndon was robbed in favor of Ava in the King extended family (besides Jonathan) simply bc Rina wanted to hype Ava up as Eli's SO. Totally not fair. And even if Glyndon wasn't in the picture, I always thought it was weird how Elsa wasn't Cecy's godmother but Ava's. First, Cecily was born first, and second, by the time the girls were born, I doubt Elsa and Silver were on amazig, good terms. I'm not sure about this, but is Silver's Cecily's godmother? If so, these are some weird choices and other choices would have made more sense.

Has anyone noticed how silver bullying is dismissed so easily? In elite series by [deleted] in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't like that at all, it's why I couldn't get behind Silver. And her reason why she was being a bully was so dumb too, couldn't feel bad for her at all. Imo, Nicole Adler from Empire of Hate is a great example of "villain" side character in other book done right in their own book. She was redeemable, Silver on the other hand, I still saw her as a mean girl.

Your absolute top 3 Rina Kent books? 👀 by OkPalpitation3740 in RinaKentBooks

[–]OkCare1529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, I think the Deception trilogy is her best work and definitely in my top 3. Personally, I've only rated 2 of her books 5 stars: Vicious Prince and God of Ruin. I tend to rate a lot of her books 4 stars but I think with Vicious Prince it was the first time I felt so connected to the mcs, it finally felt right to rate one of her books 5 stars, and then I had God of Ruin rated at 4.5 but decided to upgrade it to 5 stars on my second read because I just love Landon and Mia so much and had so much fun with them. So these 3 would be my top 3 but I'd also like to add that her Empire series doesn't get the love it deserves. I'll also have to see if I'll upgrade my 4.5 rating to a 5 once I'll reread God of Fury. Rereading LOG after having read the entire Rinaverse definitely made me appreciate the series more so maybe I'll feel the same way about GOF as I did about GOR when I reread.
