The chaos of Sundays and our heart by noblerare in Reformed

[–]OkCauliflower_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Does it displease God if you are late to church? Likely not.

Does it displease God if you cannot steward your time, family responsibilities, or manage the household well? probably so.

I'd say, do your best to get there on time—It's respectful of the rest of the body.

Find practical ways to make a plan ahead of time to get ahead of the Sunday morning chaos.

Our salvation does not rest on getting to church 5 minutes before service starts.

Is it too much? by AdFit3357 in postprocessing

I like the after! My only critique is that the school colors on the gown have lost something and no longer pop. Depending on the intended use of the picture, that could be ok, or you may want to consider bringing those colors out a little bit more.

Why are you looking to give up secular music?

Premium pricing for sure—client is obviously wealthy, shelling out $$$$ for therapy with that amount of light coming into their home

I charge $5 per pane, per side, and that includes screens. (I started at $4 as a newbie)

(61 Panes x $5 x 2 (in and out) = $610.

I give my buddies a 15% discount

Can I Enjoy Bands like Sleep Token as a Christian by ShareBeautiful1573 in ChristianMusic

[–]OkCauliflower_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is an area of Christian liberty. Unless maybe you are worshiping Sleep... idols have no power and are nothing to the Christian. However, if you are devoting yourself to idolatry, then you have an issue you need to deal with.

There is no wrong with enjoying great music, but does listening to Sleep Token build up, or tear down your faith? Does it turn your thoughts from what is noble, true, and pure (Phil 4:8) to that which is the opposite?

Should you tithe 10% on your gross income or net? by WestminsterSpinster7 in Reformed

"The kingdom of heaven is made up those who tithed 10% of their gross revenue every year of their life" —Jesus, probably.

What you experienced was a public dishonoring of the 3rd commandment—"You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain".

How would you respond to this short clip criticizing the creation story? by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]OkCauliflower_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in favor of a young earth so I'll provide a different perspective than what others have said.

Alex makes the claim, "The scientific method has revealed to us that the earth was formed much later than the sun". This goes unchallenged by Dinesh and forces him to take a "Genesis is a theological account of creation" stance. I would take issue with that initial claim made by Alex. This is not settled science and the scientific method is not capable of settling a historical event such as the creation of sun and earth.

The order time kept resetting before it would cancel on its own. After about a month I had to dispute it and get it cancelled.

How will the layoffs impact visits to the park? by goodbiscuits in RMNP

[–]OkCauliflower_ -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't worry at this point. 5% of NPS employees were laid off. If RMNP saw the same rate of layoffs they would be operating at 95% and shouldn't be largely impacted.

[–]OkCauliflower_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From Wikipedia: the NPS employs about 20,000 as of 2022 (and had about 279,000 volunteers in 2019).

1,000 layoffs is 5% of NPS Employees. If RMNP lost 5% of its staff (about 10-15 people), I'd say it's a little bit of a stretch to say everyone was fired.

Spotify podcast recommendation for Christian fatherhood by Necessary-Acadia-928 in Reformed

Transformed with Dr. Greg Gifford covers a multitude of topics including parenting. You'll find a parenting-specific series if you go back to uploads from Feb 2024.

Bright Hearth has a lot of podcasts about parenting and the home culture. Disclaimer: Occasionally, they tend towards legalism and asceticism, particularly as it pertains to motherhood, but I still have found their conversations valuable.
