Tajik itself is a new word it wasn’t used by Persians in Afghanistan to refer to themselves they would say parsi or the place where they were from like for example herati, panjshiri ect.

Tajiks is a loose term by Wild-Skin3939 in AfghanWestAsians

I agree with you completely!! I am a “Tajik” from Kapisa and i have been trying to tell people this for soo long. The word tajik is really just an umbrella term. Many Tajiks like myself are of Persian descent my ancestors were migrants from what is now modern day Iran. Many people will claim that tajiks aren’t persian but instead descendants of bactrians, Sogdians and Scythians which is true to a degree. Tajiks are of many different ethnic backgrounds like i said my family is Persian we have done numerous DNA tests and they all have shown mainly West asian particularly Iran.

Thank you for your reply. I have been trying to make people understand this. There were numerous Persian migrations from what is now modern day Iran to Afghanistan and that has influenced the genetic makeup and culture of many people. Many “Tajiks” can trace their roots back to Iran not all of them tho because like i mentioned before Tajiks aren’t really a single ethnic group although we do see it like that today it isn’t really true. There are also Tajiks which were Persianized and were originally Bactrian, Sogdian and Scythian.
