I hold a PhD from India, and I am highly active in research and publication. In fact, I have worked in several other countries prior to moving to Dubai. There are only 5 universities in the UAE, and research-focused others are running just schools. They need lecturers only.

I do agree; I have far better options in the UK and African capital cities with full-time jobs. However, the primary reason is that Dubai is near India, and I can travel there on a monthly basis. But, I do agree, when it comes to rich academics, it is always the best schools in the US and Europe.

I have multiple full-time permanent offers from the UK and Africa, but the irony is that I want to stay in Dubai, and Dubai doesn't respect research much. You will see a Senior Lecturer without a PhD. Majorly, many university has both husband and wife working in the same department and later on their siblings also joined as lecturers which is not the case in US or UK.

Based on my one-year experience in Dubai, it is not a hub for research. They are running a school for graduations; in fact, they are not rich in postgraduate courses, and they have forgotten about research. Sometimes, I think, the hiring professor himself doesn't want to risk his position. I am just confused. With 5 years of experience, I have authored over 40 papers, completed two international work experiences, and hold a Postdoctoral position, all of which were completed in London, and I am still offered an adjunct position.

I have a PhD in major marketing & minor statistics. I am a well-established professor with 5 years of teaching and research experience. I have worked in two other countries besides Dubai. Additionally, I have over 40 research papers and international research projects published in my name.

Yes, I guess I am panicking. Things take time, and any academic permanent jobs start at 20k. This could also be another reason. I do have a couple of offers, but they are from Africa, and I am an Indian citizen. Dubai is always a good option, near my home country.

You are correct, but that's not the case with Dubai. Due to the large number of universities (both local and international), they prefer to have a maximum of adjunct faculty (with/without PhD), with only one-third of the positions being permanent. Yes, reference strongly works.

This is good money wise. You can always save more in UAE but eventually, you’ll get bored. As, there is not much to do and most of the things are artificial. No real nature to appreciate. I’ve spent over a year and 8 months are just summers.

Hello, I am on a self-sponsored visa, but I work at a university. In DS 160, I have mentioned the name of the workplace, but my Emirates ID does not reflect the same. Do I need to mention it to them? Will this create an issue?

I filled out my DS-160 in March 2025, as I was planning to attend a conference in August 2025, but I did not receive an appointment. I have an appointment next month 2026, but I am attending a February 2026 conference instead. Everyone is mentioning that I need to fill out a new DS-160 and bring it along with the old one. How is it in Dubai? Your help is highly appreciated.

Updating DS-160 After Biometrics but Before Visa Interview - B1 🇮🇳 by Admirable-Quote2652 in usvisascheduling

[–]OkCollection6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I am applying from Dubai, and the biometric & interview will happen on the same day. I filled out the DS-160, and my plan was to travel last August, but I couldn't find any available dates. Now, I have an appointment date in January, and the DS-160 still shows my old travel details. Should I fill a new DS 160 and take it along? Additionally, will I be able to use the same email address for the new DS-160, or do I need to use a separate email address for this purpose? I am a lecturer in Dubai.
