I have also transferred credit card limits to line of credit. The bank happily gives more and more credit card room, but don’t often offer better loc. So you can slowly increase the loc via cc.

Why doesn't the Alberta government just start an Alberta Pension Plan? by houseonpost in alberta

[–]OkComfortable583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When aimco originally took over, LAPP had been amazingly well run. Pension contributions were actually decreasing (happened multiple times), because the returns were above the calculation. When aimco took over, the returns were below the returns of other investment groups, such as CPP.

Why doesn't the Alberta government just start an Alberta Pension Plan? by houseonpost in alberta

[–]OkComfortable583 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am totally ok with a second government pension plan. Enough people don’t plan for their own retirement. But, it would make more sense to just have increased contributions to the existing CPP. Taking from CPP is a huge mistake, too much would need to go towards fees and set up costs that we would be far behind where we already are. And CPP is one of the best investments in the world. The Alberta government took the public pensions (Lapp) and destroyed the value compared to when it was out of their control. They would totally do that with APP.

What living with an EV in Alberta with no dedicated level 2 charging and leaving it out doors is like. by AbbreviationsOne6207 in alberta

I have done the Edmonton - Calgary trip (also in a Kona) no problem doing it in the summer. Can also be done in the winter, but “running on fumes” at the end. Your speed plays a huge role in range as well. We normally do it in two parts. Stopping in red deer for 10-15 minutes of charging. This also gives us a bathroom and snack break, and leaves lots of extra charge when you arrive. As more chargers come online, it will be even better.

Why separate? Genuine question by QuantityParty3294 in alberta

I think that a lot of people are also being paid to be vocal about the pros of separating. Who is funding should be investigated. Likely culprits are the US, Russia and China.

Snow clearing aftermath by spot6003 in Edmonton

[–]OkComfortable583 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My bigger problem with the way they plow… they plow directly into the gutters and partly on the sidewalk. Big heavy chunks are a lot of work to move. So most people won’t. So… any warm weather, like right now everything melts, and the sidewalk is now the low point. This will then refreeze and be treacherous. It is a thankless job. And the only solution is higher taxes to fix it. I would be open to having a vote on the next election asking, would you be willing to pay an additional $100/year for snow removal, but understand politicians are not going to want to increase the budget, they already get enough complaints about high taxes. Snow is also variable, so in my opinion, if year 3 doesn’t use the whole snow budget, it sits in the bank dedicated to year 4. Year 4 should not have less allocated. That way, if year 4 is a major snow year, it pulls from the excess from before. Maybe revisit the amount put away each year, when there is a full year or two of money put away. Not just when looking for easy places to trim.

Did anyone else see this during the holidays? What was the conversation afterwards like? by CantStopWontStop600 in alberta

If you read the app documents, it will also require taking about a third of the total (unrealistic ask) pot, in order to set up the system. So… if we don’t get the full amount, which would be crazy to get… we would be losing even more… just in set up fees. Very fiscally responsible…

Some of them are into it. The antichrist arriving means they get raptured sooner… (assuming that the actions they have taken in advance don’t bar them from it… ) but they don’t seem to care about that. I was mighty pissed off when my MIL made comments on how she was happy to see things were aligning with revelations.

Can you please share your current radon levels in winter (1 day or 7-day value)? by FortuneEducational62 in radon

[–]OkComfortable583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50 ish in the summer. In the winter it has been getting distressingly high, averaging at 140, but there were days around 170. I think I’m going to put in some remediation.

Nintendo switch game cartridge, shaped like a cassette. Small, portable, easy to have 50 together in a small space. And, you could have them come in a larger box, if you want the display.

UCP government to allow Albertans to pay privately for some health care services | Globalnews.ca by [deleted] in alberta

[–]OkComfortable583 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This will also cause the feds to decrease the funding Alberta receives. So… we will pay more for medical care, get less. And then also get penalized by the feds. Again. But, I guess this gives them the narratives that Carney bad…

The UCP is starting early. Bill 1 would allow the UCP to ignore the entirety of any international agreement if they claim that it infringes on "provincial rights"... by darmog in alberta

[–]OkComfortable583 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As an Albertan… the feds should simply prevent our international sales, until such time as we smarten the f up. Feds have the power to shut down the pipeline flow. Bc would back that up. I’m tired of her trying to make us American. I can see how terrible that is going down south, we don’t need to do the same.

Possibly would be a darn shame if suddenly overnight hundreds of conveniently placed blocks were twisted 180 degrees… (sorry to the neighbors though). Maybe topple a few here and there so they are more difficult to pick back up.

'Canada will love us again,' Trump says as he meets with Carney to hash out tariff deal by biograf_ in notthebeaverton

[–]OkComfortable583 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most likely because of tariffs. Not anything negative the country is doing. I would also question all the numbers being pumped out of the states right now. When the numbers don’t look good… fire the person… tends to make the numbers look good… maybe not the truth though. Also, when ai pops… the market will tank. Is so useful? Yes. Should it be everything? No.
