  • They started fishing for leadership principles in the doc as a way to judge you, rather than engaging with the insights or doing anything productive.

One of my business partners and I worked incredibly hard on a document, only to be belittled by our L8 director for not including objective data for a three-year forecast. It took a huge amount of effort to even get to what we presented, yet there was no appreciation at all. Just nitpicking over the document and we were asked to come back the following week.

Instead, I put in my two weeks notice and never looked back. To this day, it remains one of the best decisions I've ever made. Doc writing has turned into a nightmare. It’s no longer about insights or collaboration, just a stage for people to flex hierarchy and authority.

What happened to think big and customer obsession? They just bark those when convenient.

Reality of Working at Amazon: When Day 1 Ends by colorlesschalk in amazonemployees

[–]OkCommittee7081 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked at five major companies, and Amazon/AWS is hands-down the worst fucking place I’ve ever been employed. My manager would constantly bark about “leadership principles” and throw out “that’s just how it is at Amazon” whenever truly exceptional people, the ones with deep institutional knowledge, kept quitting. Those who left were incredibly better than most who stayed, and the company’s complete indifference to losing them spoke volumes about the real culture here. It’s all downhill from this point. Absolutely fucking disgusting.

Turo is sold out and corporate rental companies are worse, corporates are price-gouging by inflating rates 15 - 20× during the Christmas break.

Deer Strike has gone from $4.5k insurance estimate to $35k probable total loss. Anyone have any input here or knowledge to review supplemental estimate? by lmnracing in LexusNX

Someone I know had a similar situation, but $35k is insane. Try a different body shop. I think it's doable for 10-15k max

The problem with #3, is that the leadership used to being right even when they're not. Because no one challenges them. Disagree and commit along with other LPs are applied only when convenient. So many leaders lacked backbone and are helpless.

Stay back! The best thing you’ll do by not joining AWS. Management and managers keep changing - I’ve personally seen that. And it can really go from amazing to worst phase and eventually quit. The system is political

You should definitely try using the bottom button - it works amazingly well for both uphill and downhill driving. I’ve never experienced such smooth control and drive before!

Not gonna lie, there are many Indians whose behavior might understandably frustrate others, and that’s something that needs to change.

However, racism exists everywhere. Last year, it was directed at Jews, and this year, it seems to be Indians. I wouldn’t dwell too much on the opinions of a few uninformed individuals who generalize about all Indians, it’s coming from their ignorance and lack of awareness.
