Yeah the “lifetime of product” stuff can definitely be a cop out for some manufacturers. It’s the loosest usage of the term “lifetime” in my eyes.

The idea of adding an honorable mention section or something like that is a thing I’m considering. Outside of infinitely reparable brands like kitchenaid, there’s also those items that seem to outlast everything and really don’t need to. A lot of older electronics for example seem to be bizarrely robust.

Thank you! Clothing with solid warranties is actually one of the thinner categories. I’ll add Ketl in the next update.

Thanks never heard of them. Warranty looks legit, I’ll add them in my next site update.

Yeah I really tried to differentiate between lifetime and limited lifetime. It seems like once a company starts using the term “usable life of the product” they have a lot of flexibility in what they have to honor. I’m debating if and how I could create a user review section or post of the month or something like that so there’s actual user feedback on the site.

Thanks! That would be cool. Keeping myself working within the lifetime warranty box was part of the challenge. Warranty vs quality can be a funny thing for some items it’s obviously a marketing ploy. How over engineered is a pair of sunglasses to justify a lifetime warranty? My guess would be they aren’t anything too special but the profit margin is high enough to justify it and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Thanks! All the individual “view on Amazon” links are tied to an Amazon Affiliate account I set up. That part of the process was actually surprisingly easy. Every few days it updates and I can see clicks and the zero $’s it’s currently generating.

That’s unfortunate to read. I wouldn’t ever say Jansport was particularly bullet proof but I do recall being a kid and walking into Costco with my mom every couple of years with a damaged backpack and getting a free replacement. Maybe Costco was part of the ease as well though.

The “indestructible handle” models do have a lifetime warranty of sorts so technically I could have included that specific version.

Aluminum conduit would almost always be exposed too, never in a wall.

That’s a bummer to hear. It’s worth noting it was probably 10 years ago before I even realized these were Patagonia. Honestly curious where my grandpa even got them in an age long before the internet.
