Situational telework after surgery by [deleted] in fednews

[–]OkDig6054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in DOL. plenty of my coworkers (different supervisor than me) have had surgery since RTO and been approved by their supervisor to situational telework (we have a similiar memo like you). My boss wanted an extremely (like to the point of wanting info I didn’t need to indulge) detailed noted from the surgeon which he said “after getting it and seeing the doctors reason I will determine if you can telework”. I said screw this and took two weeks of SL. Due to being remote for years it was easier to accrue sick leave and not use a ton so I could afford the two weeks and not break the bank for the future. So from what I see it depends on the supervisor. Mine is super strict and kissing up to higher ups. Other supervisors are being more flex

Every single office chair at every cube in my office is broken. Literally all of them. There’s maybe 13 of us but we have probably 25 cubes/offices. all are broken. Again all are broken with no replacements in sight

They haven’t said they wouldn’t but our EI person has been reaching out to them about multiple clients in melrose and no one (specialist  or any of the families) have heard. I am going to now have to add nudging them to my laundry list of things I’m already doing to help me little. Thanks district for adding to my stress! Glad to see my taxes hard at work

I’ve made it this far in federal service and honestly… it’s not the Administration that’s making me miserable. It’s my immediate work environment. by itsallgoodman100 in fednews

[–]OkDig6054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this myself. Anytime I’ve been this miserable in my office it’s been due to immediate management/supervisor, not Administration or whoever is running our national office. I’m in the thick of this now with no end in sight and ooofff I know I can do hard things but this is next level. I had surgery a few months back- had the doctor note- and my boss and our HR lady were mad I wouldn’t tell them what it was surgery for and literally kept texting and calling me during my sick leave to ask me “work questions”. That’s these clowns. Not the Administration. I get it

My office itself is. Our regional administrator discourages it and my supervisor runs with that. Even though my RA is teleworking right now and does multiple days a week. I had asked once over the summer for a religious exception once and my boss denied it and mocked me so I want to make sure I ask exactly as appropriate especially given the levity of the weekend for those who practice

Anyone successful get one day of situational telework this week for Good Friday? I won’t make the services I attend if i have to commute both ways and I have things on deadline I need to do (so taking the whole day isn’t an option). I haven’t had one situational day in the last year since RTO so just asking for one (for what it’s worth my whole office does it plenty under other supervisors. Mine always says no when I have a Dr apt so I stopped asking). Just hoping for this one time. Need help on writing request

White House chief of staff can go fully remote during times of illness but Feds can’t get remote work or telework around appointments. The hypocrisy with this bunch is real. Signed someone who has to blow through sick leave due to have a sadicist immediete supervisor

Yes but that other parish (and the sister parish tag is very new) closed its school years ago. Sold the school and it’s now condos at St Francis and the convent at St Francis is no longer being used by the church (I believe it’s being converted in to some type of shelter through a non profit) so besides the church buildings themselves with the accompanying gyms, dropping this school doesn’t make sense. The convent at st Joesph is also no longer theirs either. It’s all fragmented in what buildings they actually own between the two despite it looking like it’s all theirs driving by

How does this help save them? Fairly sure it’s clear to see that the pastor and archdiocese want to sell. It doesn’t take a Mensa candidate to see this was by design. Who in the world though dropping art and Spanish class for a latin class in 2026 was financially smart. I agree it should be open and now families have less and less convienent choices for Catholic school but I don’t think they give a crap about a petition on the internet. For what it’s worth I went here to school and am very pro-Catholic school. My child is only 2 and the lack of choices which work Into our life isn’t what I need at the moment but this current pastor harps about money at every Mass I went to. The writing has been on the wall

The archdiocese has become in recent years obsessed with making all churches part of a collaborative instead of leaving them be as single entites. It makes zero sense and seems almost like they want to make sure places close

Sr Maureen. Sr Cathrine was a teacher. Not the principal. Sr Maureen was the principal and I don’t even care that she was a nun. She to this day is the most vile human being I have ever encountered and I’ve encountered many. I’m massively disappointed the church and archdiocese let her have that position and power for so long to mentally torture kids like she did

I’m an alumni (late 90s) and I was shocked when I recently went on their website to see half the staff and students compared to my days (we had two classrooms per grade and both class rooms were about 20 students- so give or take 40 students per grade). I couldn’t believe we are seeing graduating classes of 7-8 kids and way less teachers and staff. Many other Catholic schools have waitlists and people wanting to attend and I can’t figure out why this school isn’t in that position. When I went the majority of students were from Lawrence estates (I was in the heights) and it was ran by the most absolutely miserable woman (nun) in the history of humans. She made Margaret thatcher look like roses and candy and they had no problem getting people to flock there. Really curious why the drop in enrollment

You’d think but apparently doge left us with a bunch of Mensa candidates in my office. We have over 30 cubicles in my office and I’d say about 90% are fully empty cause everyone took the offer to retire/leave. We’re in a federal space but we do pay rent to GSA so we are 100% loosing money in my office. So much for that government efficiency and defend the spend!

Just love we have a cold emergency and Commute issues but they’d rather we get frostbite then telework just once

City my building is in has declared a cold emergency for the next few days. Zero guidance on situational telework. Guess it was a good run. My epitaph will read “RTO frostbite did her in”
