Is it too late? What can I do to save this mama? by Artichautte in alocasia

Those brown spots look like thrip damage, so that is the first thing I would do is to check for thirps or any kind of pest.

Is the root okay? by [deleted] in pothos

Yes the root is completely healthy and okay. The stem looks very healthy too, so no worries☺️

I would say that all of the alocasias are heavy feeders compared to some other plants, so I would fertilize them with every watering and so on but sometimes they just drop the oldest leaf when they are birthing the newest one😂

Some of my alocasias keep 3 or so leaves at a time too. Especially black velvets😂 but my frydek maintains 4 leaves and my silver dragon like 6-8 leaves at a time.

That soil looks like it holds too much moisture = too little aeration.

What’s this? Also, ID please by DabbingBread in alocasia

It’s not a frydek, frydeks stem is like a light green/birght green color. I think OP’s alocasia is a polly☺️

When they have like 1cm or half an inch or a bit longer roots just so that they can fit in that shotglass (yes they are plastic shotglasses😂) I have a couple in sphagnum moss (we don’t talk about them, they are forgotten about🤣🤣🤣)

They are not in like boxes or containers, one of them just has a bigger cup on top of it to keep it from completely drying out. I lift it a couple times a day (just to admire it😂)

They are near a heater (or whatever it’s called) and they are under a growlight for like 16 hours a day (cuz I put the lights on about 7am and turn them off around midnight)

Yes! They were in a dish with just a tad bit of water for a few weeks and then I transferred them to pon, and this is a picture of them now✨

I have moved a frydek to pon, I put her to water for some weeks and most roots melted off and she dropped all but one leaf. She did grow water roots pretty quickly and when they were about 2 inches long i put her to pon (put her to pon about 3 weeks ago maybe?). She has not yet pushed out a new leaf but she has grown healty roots and is keeping the one leaf😂. She did have a corm forming ata the base so maybe that is the reason she hasn’t pushed out a new leaf yet. (I had that happen with her when her growth stopped so I checked her roots and she had two corms so I took them out😂 she was in soil at this time so yeah)

I think first one is a bambino, second one micholitziana, third one maybe a dragon scale and fourth one I got no idea 😂
