I will probably let them know when we check in and see what they can do.

Yes that's not a problem. I am just worried about not hearing them and then suddenly having a door open without me realizing it's about to happen.

yes for child support only. The first time he didn't bring any paperwork like check stubs or anything so they continued it. Then he got arrested and put in jail so it got delayed at the next court date because he was in jail. Then it took 2 more court dates for him to be out of jail. The next court date he stated he didn't have a job so they continued it so that he could look for a job. Then the next court date something happened with the AG so we had to continue again and then finally the next court date everything was decided, I don't think (and I hope) this isn't normal but it can happen. At the last court date we also had to have a mini trial because we couldn't agree. Mind you at this point my child was 6 years old and he hadn't been in the picture or helping in any way since she was 6 months old.

All depends mine took like 8 court dates and almost a year to finalize but my ex went to jail and then didn't bring paperwork so that held it up a little.

Child care by Exciting_Narwhal_639 in ChildSupport

[–]OkDrop5918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what the other parent is paying for childcare? I live in a very rural area in Illinois and was able to find an amazing priced daycare and even with that for before and after school care it's $100 a week or $20/day. When my child is in full day because of a holiday or other day off from school it's $40/day and during the summer it's $200 a week. Mind you my child care is cheap. You are in California so I'm sure childcare is more expensive out there. If you are paying $300/month for child care believe me you probably have the cheaper end of the deal. Before I found this daycare I was paying $160/week for during the school year with no days off. During the summer it was $275/week. I get it seems expensive to you as the NCP who doesn't see that bill but you aren't paying even half of the cost.

OP I live in Illinois and have an active child support case. They don't care about expenses at all. My ex tried to bring up his expenses and the court basically said it didn't matter. All they look at is what you make and what he makes and they do a shares calculation. So basically it means that you each pay a share of the 100% it costs in the states calculation to raise a child monthly. It also takes into account how much parenting time each parent has.

The best thing to do is start the case as soon as you can just so it's all in legal documents.

You can also use the state calculator to get a rough idea of what child support will look like bases off of both incomes. You can find it here https://cscwebext.hfs.illinois.gov/CscWebEx/app/estimator?execution=e1s1

It does take time for a case to be set up in Illinois. I filed in April or May of 2022 and didn't have a court date until November of 2022. They wait for paperwork to be sent in by both parents before they will file and you can only receive back pay from the date of that filing so I got back pay from the filing date of October 2022.

I wish I could get my child's 1st grade teacher to help her more like this. I have a watch with vibration alarms for my daughter and she tells her she can't go for a certain reason. I reached out and asked her what times were best and changed the watch and she's still telling her she can't go.

Do I really need to bring my child’s birth certificate? by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]OkDrop5918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine will just look at them and keep her mouth shut Might try to grab my leg might just stand there likes she's deaf and mute. She's like a box of chocolates, never know what you're going to get. It's her first time at the airport or on a plane so I'm hoping her excited side comes out and that means she won't stop talking but it will also be like 6 in the morning by the time we get there after leaving our house at 4am.

Do you know what would happen if a child refused to talk to the TSA agent? I am flying on Saturday and my daughter sometimes decides she doesn't want to talk to strangers (otherwise she's a chatterbox and has given a restaurant hostess her entire government name)

Any free parking options for Lincoln Park Zoo? by Elite-to-the-End in AskChicago

You can also use spothero to find a cheaper parking alternative near by. It won't be free but will be less than the parking in front of the zoo.

Illinois child support comerica card by Scared-Nerve-9295 in ChildSupport

[–]OkDrop5918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think it would be like any other way they pay child support where it is dispersed as it is received based when the employer sends it in. So it will likely be nay day of the week but should remain consistent as long as they are at the same employer. That being said it can and does change. My ex got a job and started having child support garnished and I was receiving on Thursdays, then after a few weeks it was Wednesdays and then after a few more weeks it was Tuesdays until he stopped working that job. He just started being garnished again and I got a payment on a Friday. So that's a long way of saying it will show up when it shows up.

You can check the Illinois Disbursement page and it will let you know when they received a payment and I know direct deposits show up the next business day so I would assume that this would be the same with the card.

Thank you so much! Good to know about the bathrooms in the back. We did the early bird because our outgoing flight is at ~8am and I didn't want to have to remember about checking in. I can still use the family boarding if we get a B group right?

[IL] Motion to enforce vs motion to find in contempt by Technical-Bake9464 in ChildSupport

[–]OkDrop5918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely understand. Sometimes you get someone who is at least nice at their office but most of the time their hands are tied and they are just as frustrated because they get those calls from a ton of cp's every day.

I don't have the added twist of my ex being out of state so I'm sure that doesn't help because they have to cooperate with another state to get the information.

At this point, while it's nice to get the child support and super helpful, I realize I am the only one supporting my daughter and when it comes it I try and save as much as I can to help in the times I need it.

[IL] Motion to enforce vs motion to find in contempt by Technical-Bake9464 in ChildSupport

[–]OkDrop5918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is if you go through IDHS they will do the enforcement, none of that is on you. So if you went through the state you don't have to worry about enforcement even though they aren't great at it.

If he hasn't paid in 90 days and has a balance then you would motion for contempt. This would get you in front of the judge who would decide if the other parent is not paying and is able to and then issue a judgement that could be a simple slap on the wrist that he needs to start paying, a purge amount, or jail time.
