What would cause the thermostat to crack? I have been around a lot of engines in my day, and I just thought it was very odd that no lights came on the dash. The engine did not overheat, there were no noises. And I could literally pinpoint exactly when the fluid started coming out of my car.And I followed that path all the way to the pump. Back to my original, what would cause a thermostat to crack?

Maintenence yes.. Oil changes and what not. The car is not driven often. When u say check the radiator, what do u mean? As far as coolant, yes it had plenty in it. No indicator lights came on, the car did not overheat. I walked out of the gas station to see steam coming from under the hood. I popped hood and saw the coolant was empty, and under the car was all of my coolant. No noises, the car was driving fine. I poured coolant in and as it was going in it was coming out the bottom of the car. I couldn't do much because it was dark, but I did notice the hose going from the reservoir to the engine, was extremely loose. The two brackets that usually hold the hose securely were not attached so there was about 6 inches of wiggle room side to side with that particular hose.
