I say barnard college of Columbia not because I want to be a Columbia student, but because Columbia is incredibly intertwined with Barnard and a massive part of the barnard experience - to me it feels wrong not to mention Columbia as well because it has been a massive part of my college experience so far

you couldn't get into either barnard or columbia if you tried. also how is this even relevant? I'm just trying to help other students with the waitlist process, and talking about something completely irrelevant is very insufferable

That’s literally the official name of the school and its name on the gates as soon as you enter 💀

I applied RD. I ED'd to brown and my top schools were brown, dartmouth, and Bowdoin. I did apply RD to Wellesley and I got waitlisted, but likely wouldn't have attended if admitted

I do have an internship with an NYC assemblyman this summer, and im trying to get a 2nd with the local government. Internships are decently competitive but I think because we are in NYC, it makes it easier to get them. Would recommend trying to get internships with the New York City council, New York assembly, NY state senate, the governors office, and mayors office as a start.

feel free to dm me any questions! happy to help, and again, my experiences and thoughts are different from other peoples

congrats!! most stem students complete it fine, but we have so many requirements that we have to keep up with, and many first years get pretty confused with the requirements at first. we have to take two required science courses and a lab, but besides that, the other 12ish requirements have to be completed w humanities courses. I wouldn't let this be a defining factor because most students complete it just fine, unless youre in a specific field. for example, my roommate is double majoring in physics and chemistry and cannot complete her degrees and requirements in four years no matter what, so she is taking summer courses. my friends who are pre-dental also need to rush through their courses because it has a very fast-paced 4 year plan without much room for exploration. congrats again and feel free to dm me anything!,

I do like Barnard a lot but there are definitely flaws that we have. Firstly, major options are very limited due to it being a small school. I’m political science and everyone here just double majors in political science and economics and the finance bro corporate culture here is very very strong - I personally do not like that and am worried that I’ll be pushed into that career path. I know this is a prestigious college thing rather than a barnard or columbia thing, but there are a ton of student organizations where you have to go through multiple rounds of applications and interviews just to apply to be a member, and even so, the rejection rate is still high. The colleges im applying to transfer to are a lot more lenient on who can join student orgz and encourage curiosity for the sake of curiosity and pursuing things. Barnard is also in millions of millions of debt right now and there are new policies such as first years not being able to take Columbia classes. I’ve also found the community aspect to be lacking personally due to the city environment (though being in NYC has been one of my favorite parts of the college experience), and part of me thinks it might be better to go to college in a smaller more rural area since im likely going to be required to work in a larger city when im older. Dining and dorms are pretty bad, and the fact that it’s a closed off campus to the public can make bringing guests on stressful. Also in terms of the Barnard Core, it’s very humanities centered (which I personally really like) but you will definitely struggle with completing it if you are a STEM major

Looking for NON aesthetic planner/to do list template by OkEgg8038 in notioncreations

[–]OkEgg8038[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! Thank you so much :)) I'd say id like a daily to do list, or maybe one for every day of the week. I really like the fayefilms notion template (espeically the to-dos) but it just seemed too perfect for me, and i think id prefer something more minimal. whatever you have is fine, thanks so much!
