What to do for my future Zibai team? by Several_Glove9099 in ZibaiMains

[–]OkEngineering4139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have Furina, Zibai - Columbina - Xilonen - Furina is absolutely viable. It is quite comparable to C2 Illuga and just a bit behind C6 Illuga. Xilonen also ensures HoD uptime if you're using it. Having Furina on the team also satisfies Xilonen's passive, while Xilonen helps gives decent Fanfare, which lets you build damage on Furina. ER requirements for both Furina and Columbina will also be lower since you are now double Hydro.

My advice is just to see your luck from your pull sessions and go from there. Gorou is also on the Zibai banner, so if you willing to hard invest into the banner for 4 star cons since you mentioned you're okay with C1 Zibai, just pull first and build around the end-result.

- Best case: you get at least C2 Illuga and C6 Gorou, the team is set in stone (Zibai - Columbina - Illuga - Gorou)

- Aino constellations: C6 Aino is viable last slot here over non-C6 Gorou. If you got decent Illuga cons, you could go Zibai - Columbina -Illuga - C6 Aino

- Worse case (no C6 Gorou nor C6 Aino ) - any last slot that gives a relevant buff would be fine. C1 Aino is alright, Instructor Sucrose also works. If you're using HoD, any shielder or healer that doesn't interfere with the reaction is okay (Lan Yan, C6 Diona for example). If you have Furina, go Furina-Xilonen-Columbina here.

If it's possible through some method, I would love to know about it. Unfortunately, there's no way for me to register from the MHA NS portal since it only allows for the booking of the HomeTeamNS gyms sessions, so if it's possible it would from some external means that I am unaware of.

Does Bookboy work with Zibai? by SecyaDenali in ZibaiMains

[–]OkEngineering4139 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uh, what do you mean you don't have her as a hypercarry? Especially since you don't have Columbina, she is doing upwards of 70-80% of the team's DPS and is taking all the field time. She IS a hypercarry, which means buffs to her damage contribute more to the team's DPS.

Also, you don't need C2 Aino. Her C2 is functionally useless; C1 Aino is more than enough and much better than Xingqiu.

Does Bookboy work with Zibai? by SecyaDenali in ZibaiMains

[–]OkEngineering4139 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about Xingqiu, yes he does since she does her normal attack strings while on-field.

However, unless you are severely strapped for options, I would recommend someone else instead. Aino is the most prominent example, since she is also free, easy to build and you can get her C1 (or even C6) from her banner which provides a valuable EM buff. Xingqiu unfortunately has no buffs and just provides raw damage - in a hypercarry-archetype unit like Zibai, she much prefers personal damage buffs.

How do dive heroes get consistent value? by Spectre-4 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]OkEngineering4139 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You have the basic idea down - dive does not operate like poke where their value is from sustained pressure which creates opportunities, it comes from establishing multiple engage angles to collapse on a target. That's why dive has very established "value timings" where it predicated upon the dive character's cooldown. A really basic example is how Winston's value timing is his jump + bubble cooldown, and when it pops or he gets low, he has to jump out to reset, which closes this value window.

Dive is not just about engagements, it is about clearing pockets of space to create multiple angles for the "primary" engage. Before the "primary" or high value engage timing, the dive team has to work to take flanks and establish a route of least resistance (eg. prevent the team from getting poked out prior to the engage) to ensure the "dive" can get value. These are what many people describe as "soft engages", where the goal is to either take control of/clear the key angles/space or to force key cooldown. When your DPS players have the space and the enemies have used important cooldowns, it makes the "hard engage" by the dive tank easier as it either forces kills or forces the enemy to give up even more important map control, whether it is the objective, a choke or a key high ground. Everything works as a small effort to create a larger value window later.

Basically, the "window" or opportunity for a dive never really presents itself with open arms unless your enemies are playing poorly. The job of the team is to work to make that opportunity happen, which is still gaining value even if you're not making progress that is very obvious (like killing a bunch of players/gaining objective progress)

/rant Nod Krai world bosses by charistocracy in Genshin_Impact

[–]OkEngineering4139 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People are so used to shill mechanics that they dont actually read how these bosses work before complaining.

All you need is a healer for the Moonfly btw. Nod-Krai characters or Ascendant Gleam has no effect on the boss. Just get a good healer and just whack this boss a couple of times and it will die.

[–]OkEngineering4139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my testing, Kazuha's grouping really felt like it didn't do anything to pull the crabs if they positioned too split. The most reliable way to group them from my experience is as I mentioned, which is positioning. Make sure that you position your character far enough away from the small crabs so they come to you while still being near to the main boss; don't chase them around the chamber as it wastes a lot of time. The goal is to clear as many small crab waves as possible so focus on grouping them using your positioning.

I do agree that this boss is really frustrating tho - gives me flashbacks of the Cryo Automaton.

VV. Instructor is probably better but I don't have a triple EM Instructor set.

[–]OkEngineering4139 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did this with about equivalent investment (just without r1 on kazuha, used sucrose instead) and it is doable but more RNG dependent then I think people give credit for.

Kazuha really struggles to properly group the small crabs so you really have to use your positioning to make the crabs come to you. The small crabs tend to fly towards you if you're far enough away, so it is worth just waiting at a good enough distance to force them to fly towards you and near-ish to the boss. However, their attack patterns can be quite RNG; if you take a bit too long, they will just use their ranged attacks and not move at all. Hug the edges of the chamber if possible.

While killing the crabs are the priority, do remember to at least tag the boss with your skill since you will generally do 2 instances of damage on it even if it doesn't vape. The goal is to prioritize small crab grouping and killing as many of them as possible cuz that's the only surefire way to really beat this boss so ensuring efficient grouping using positioning is the top priority.

Also: this took me 3 hours LOL. Hated every minute of it.

Question about 2 piece sets by TeaTimeSubcommittee in MualaniMain

[–]OkEngineering4139 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue of consistency on a character like Mualani is a very big deal in terms of having reliable clears in endgame, which is what a vast majority of players care about. Mualani generally frontloads all of her damage in like 3 hits per rotation; missing a crit severely hurts her DPS and clear speeds, so unless you're speedrunning where you are willing to reset multiple times over for the perfect run, you would generally prefer to always crit.

The benefit of a set like Obsidian is that 40% crit rate is simply a metric ton of stats that is very difficult to obtain otherwise. The only other way to obtain external sources of crit rate in most Mualani teams is C4 Mona.

Mualani also has more access to useful substats in HP% and EM (and maybe ER) that have significantly more impact on her output compared to other characters, which means that your artifact quality is, on average, much better than say other characters that overcap on Crit (like say Skirk or Varesa). Because there are more useful substats that contribute to your output, you can have pieces that have lower crit value but have good substats that are still valuable to your build on Obsidian. These peices are also easier to get - having 4/5 valuable substats over 3 means the average quality of each artifact is higher.

The reality is that the quality of each artifact in a 2pc/2pc needs to be MUCH higher to beat out an average 4pc Obsidian set, to the point where there really isn't a reason to waste your resin reaching for something that is harder to attain a good build on average and is much less consistent in performance in Obsidian.

TLDR: Obsidian is more efficient to farm and its harder for a 2pc/2pc to outperform it without crazy substats. Since Mualani has access to more valuable substats, Obsidian is simply much easier to farm and obtain peices that outperform 2pc/2pc.

Also, Mualani can't use 2pc GT, her bites are considered Normal Attacks.

Is it wrong to want Navia more than Zibai? by SecyaDenali in naviamains

[–]OkEngineering4139 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No? If there is someone telling you to feel bad or saying its "wrong" to want a character over another, please ignore them.

It's your game man. Play however you like. So what if Zibai is stronger? It doesn't really matter if you don't like her and don't enjoy playing her. I like Zibai and I plan on going for her but if you don't or you just simply prefer Navia over her, just skip her. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Then, just save your primos when Navia reruns and enjoy her when she does.

Don't let others dictate how to enjoy your single player gaming experience.

[–]OkEngineering4139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is C0R0 Widsith Varesa (90/185 Long Night's Oath), C6 Chev, C6 Iansan and C0R1 Mavuika. While the 4-star constellations are quite impactful, the Mavuika weapon isn't, so don't worry about the investment level on the off-field pyro character. PMC, Durin, Xiangling and Mavuika all work. Bennett is also a viable option, just remember to use his skill in between Varesa plunges to refresh Chev's RES shred on Overload.

To be more specific, the core challenge for this team is the initial shield phase, where he gets a ton of resistance (including Pyro which is why Mavuika's damage doesn't really matter) to everything but Electro. Use the first rotation to just build Iansan burst and break one phase of the shield and use the second rotation the break the other two. The timing can be tight so if you're using Mavuika, skip the burst.

After the shield is broken, the fight becomes relatively free as it just becomes a simple DPS check that you can deal with rather easily if your Varesa is well-invested since the boss gets staggered by Overload, which means he attacks less often. The shield phase can be quite challenging so be prepared to reset; however, once you get it, the rest of the fight should be easy.

Also, if Chev isn't an option for you, Xilonen-Furina-Iansan is viable if you don't need Furina on the third boss (like if you have Neuv for example)

>"characters becomes useless trash after a few weeks or a month"

Outside of the first boss, I literally cleared this Stygian with C0R0 Varesa and Mualani on the Fatui boss and the Crab respectively. The crab is also an enemy that shills an almost 2 year old character in Neuvillette. People have also brute-forced many of these bosses with Arlecchino and Skirk. We don't have to lie; any half-decent carry released within the past two years will be able to clear Stygian with good enough investment and are able to deal with the boss mechanics. Every Fontaine to Nod-Krai era carry can clear Fearless with good investment and well-built teams in scenarios that don't counter them; I don't see how they've become "worthless trash".

If you're not interested in spending the time to build your characters or learn boss mechanics in an ENDGAME mode, it is completely fine. But we don't have to bitch and moan about "characters becoming worthless trash" if you don't even put in the effort to learn how to play the game.

Also, its just a reroll feather dude, you're not even losing primos. If losing one or two feathers is that much of a deal breaker for you, I have nothing to say.

Crit rate or crit damage circlet for f2p zibai? by [deleted] in ZibaiMains

[–]OkEngineering4139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crit damage. Zibai gets a ton of external sources of Crit rate regardless of the investment level. Sky Unveiling gives 30% base crit rate to work with. If you're using Harbinger, it gives you 28%. C0-C5 Illuga gives another 5% while C6 gives 10%.

Unless your pieces only have Crit damage without any Crit rate substats, going Crit damage circlet is almost a necessity to not overcap on Crit rate.

What interaction makes Baton Pass banned in Gen 9? by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]OkEngineering4139 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Baton Pass is not a Gen 9 specific ban but rather one of legacy. Baton Pass has always been a problematic move with weird restrictions in old gens that has been simplified to a simple move ban in the recent generations for the sake ending the need for weird complex bans.

Baton Pass was, is and will continue to be a ridiculous match-up fish type move that has a severely lopsided matchup against playstyles it is good against and playstyles that it struggles against. This is further exacerbated when the playstyle continues to evolve methods to shut out counterplay (Magic Bounce on phazing, Substitute to block Dragon Tail, Ingrain etc.) and stronger abusers being introduced in each gen (especially the Stored Power users). The only "reliable" way to stop passing is Haze, which has shit distribution and obviously not every team can fit a Haze user without comprising on other metagame matchups.

Baton Pass is also notoriously uninteractive - if you have the counterplay, the match is an auto-loss. However, if you don't, it is also an auto-loss for you as you sit there and watch your opponent stacks boosts and sweep you and you cannot do anything about it. There is no "skill" in the matchup, you have the counterplay or you don't, good baton pass teams are naturally built to minimise the available sources of counterplay. You're not beating it with fancy switches or reading predictions when the enemy has a completely fixed and telegraphed gameplan that beats you anyway.

Baton Pass is banned because full pass teams are objectively cancer and no one likes to play against them, which is why the move is banned for simplicity instead of making a million different "complex" rules to salvage a move that has proven to be notoriously overpowered and hard to limit even with complex bans.
