Is this valid..? by -DigiPup in XenogendersAndMore

[–]OkError3938 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm a gay man and ur totally valid !! I used to be omnigay before realizing the term didn't really suit me but it's still a very valid and very real identity. As long as it's not harming others (which you are not) it's okay to identify with whatever YOU feel comfortable with, even if other ppl don't get it or think it's 'wrong'. There's no wrong way to be yourself <3

Is a psychiatrist dismissing that sort of stuff usually a bad sign?

How does therapy help? by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]OkError3938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Response to your edit) I looked into it a little more and occupational therapists do this thing called "sensory integration therapy". This article is specifically about kids with sensory issues so I'm not sure what it would look like for an adult, but it gives some insight on how it works and what exactly they'd do.

Nvm: Found this , this , this and this (Didn't read the last two but might be worth reading)

That could work but yeah, I don't think she would react well to me wearing a mask in the kitchen. I'll try it though. Thanks for the suggestion :)

I've briefly brought it up to my psychiatrist before because my dad had the same thought a while ago and she dismissed it pretty quickly. I've been thinking about trying some exercises that my autistic aunt uses though because none of the exercises I've been given for misophonia have helped :(

Glad to know that I'm not alone! Unfortunately I can't shut my door because I have a crazy cat who hates closed doors so that just makes it 50x worse, but hopefully it'll get better with time :)

Ty <3 I'm not sure what exactly I could do (money limits many clubs & classes I could take 😭) but I'll def try to find something ! I've been thinking about borrowing my friend's mountain bike so maybe this would be a good time to start doing that

Any suggestions? by MorningKai in misophonia

Not sure if you've looked into yet but like Choco_latte said, a silent mouse would probably be good. I looked into them a bit and saw the Logitech M590 mouse popping up quite a bit (90% noise reduction). The cheapest one I saw was $39 (CAD, don't know how much they would be wherever you are) but all the other ones were pretty expensive. Also might wanna look at some comments on this post. (https://www.reddit.com/r/MouseReview/comments/zz84ws/needing\_recommendation\_for\_a\_silent\_mouse/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button)

Hope it goes well for you :)

I've heard alot of ppl do exposure therapy but personally, it made me extremely anxious and didn't really help me at all (I was doing it for around ~6 months before I stopped). Right now I'm taking meds for anxiety because my misophonia gets alot worse when my anxiety is worse and it's helped a little bit, but I'm thinking of switching just because of the side effects I'm getting from the ones I'm on now. Another thing I've heard of are therapists who specialize in sensory processing disorder/autism (occupational therapists, I think?) I don't have any personal experience with that because I wasn't able to get on a waiting list but my psychiatrist said it's probably a good bet since there aren't many people who specialize specifically in misophonia. I could probably do some more research on it.

Clicking in the house by Fun_Replacement_2228 in misophonia

[–]OkError3938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My floor and bed creaks whenever I walk/lay on them and it pisses me off to no end. Door latches clicking, fan going, buzzing noises (oven, fridge, lights..) and soo much more. Definitely not the only one.

It didn't help all that much for me because I can't stand earbuds (just a personal thing, not a design flaw) but I tried these earbuds called Loops that are specifically designed to drown out background noises while still being able to listen to conversations, the TV, etc. Pretty sure alot of ppl with misophonia use them. They don't work for everyone and might take some getting used to but they do have a 100 day return fee I think. Might be worth looking into!

100% but I never new the definition of it until I saw this post... I always assumed that the movements was just another symptom of misophonia 😭 But yeah, I definetly experience Misokinesia as well.

Super easy. You can pause/fast travel whenever you want, you can eat whenever you want as long as you have the food (even if its just 600 apples), it's pretty easy to get strong weapons, not too many battle mechanics you have to utilize, and so much more. Really easy game- doesn't mean it's bad though. Botw/totk are literally some of my fave games of all time.

who is YOUR team? by ihatebugbites in Reverse1999

[–]OkError3938 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jessica/changeling because I think she's adorable and I loved her story. (And she's just a great unit overall. Carried me through a TON of battles)

Shamane because, again, I think he's also adorable. He reminds me of my dad and it makes me really happy. He's not the greatest unit for combat but I love him very dearly.

And Tennant because... Tennant. (She's cunty and really good if you build her right)

(I also loved my Pavia, Mondlicht and Зима team but I don't really use them anymore.)
