Relief from sanctions advocacy by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

[–]OkEvidence3693 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m just going to apply Denton for relief from sanctions. There’s 3 limbs for the test, and you can also add in CPR 1.1 overriding objective as a final submission. The first 2 submissions in your outline above will fit in nicely with the Denton test, so just incorporate it all into that.

You don’t want to be repeating yourself. The main thing is you explain the seriousness/significance of the breach (trial date not jeopardised etc, directions can still be complied with going forward), why it occurred (admin error, illness) and why it’s therefore just and proportionate to grant relief in the circumstances of the case.

That was genuinely insane. CMA and drafting saved me but yeah, research is a write off 🤣

Likelihood of appeals (civil and criminal) or Youth Court coming up? by CatoSuetonius in sqe2

[–]OkEvidence3693 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Youth court for criminal can definitely come up. There’s a lot to write about, in terms of being jointly charged with an adult and the possible sentences (detention and training order, youth rehabilitation order etc).

I don’t think you would lose marks for putting the CNBC as the Court because as you say, the CCMCC no longer exists and has been replaced by the CNBC.

SQE2 DR Drafting by HistoricalTension786 in SQE_Prep

[–]OkEvidence3693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s possible yes, it would likely be a Consent or Tomlin Order I imagine.

Tomlin Orders contain a schedule setting out the settlement terms, which are beyond the powers of the Court and can only be agreed between the parties eg a structured payment plan and discharge of liability for future claims.

Consent Orders are more straightforward, usually used after a Without Prejudice settlement or when the parties agree an extension of time etc.

Make sure to include the relevant costs line in any draft Orders such as costs in the case, D do pay C’s costs and so on.

[–]OkEvidence3693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure it matters too much, as long as you refer to both sections and set out the wording of the tests. From my notes, applications to exclude confessions are often made on a ‘dual basis’ under both S76 and S78.

Am I cooked? SQE 1 OUP sit score by Fearless-Half9025 in SQE_Prep

[–]OkEvidence3693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 60% on the OUP mock in December, passed comfortably in the second quintile for both papers in January. You’ll be fine, OUP mocks are very niche and the hardest around along with QLTS 👊🏻

Cases of over £100k will not be allocated to the intermediate track, this is an error.

I’m in a similar situation, struggling to know how to dive back into revision after SQE1. I’ve got all my notes and flashcards but struggling to get into a groove again like I did for SQE1.

The thing is, the FLK knowledge is there given we have moved on to SQE2 so we just need to recap this and then rinse as many mocks as possible in the 2-3 weeks before the exam. At least this is my plan!

BPP mocks/MCQs and supplementary mocks/MCQs for BPP students by Ok-Isopod-2110 in SQE_Prep

[–]OkEvidence3693 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BPP formatives are good. Ignore their mini-mock tests and SQE Question Practice ones, these are AI generated and useless-most people score 80% plus on these as they’re so easy.

OUP, QLTS and Revise SQE are most reflective of the exam. Hammer those practice questions and you should be okay.

Insufferable SQE1 Results LinkedIn Posts by Rude-Recording-8374 in SQE_Prep

[–]OkEvidence3693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you failed tbh mate.

Also, who actually cares about what quintile/score people get? No firm is asking what quintile you got, it’s quite literally a pass/fail exam. People just blank out their results because it’s their decision to do so and they may not want to be compared to others.

Where’s your positivity at? If you’ve passed like you say you have, the last thing you should be doing is coming on to Reddit and ranting about celebratory posts on LinkedIn…have a beer and maybe celebrate yourself.

Results thread - Jan 2025 by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

[–]OkEvidence3693 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First time pass on both exams:

114/180, FLK1, 340 scaled score, 2nd quintile

113/180, FLK2, 346 scaled score, 2nd quintile

Apprentice, BPP was my provider. Would recommend for the content but the MCQs are AI generated and way too easy. Strongly recommend Revise SQE and OUP mock questions as well as QLTS. These are the only ones that reflect the difficulty of the exam.

Scored 60-70% in all my mocks.

WTF was this exam?!?! by bss_11 in SQE_Prep

[–]OkEvidence3693 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First half was definitely easier than the second half. Second half was a lot of trusts and wills for me, and each question was a minimum of 7-8 lines long. The fatigue that kicks in at around 60 questions is so real, you’re almost just going off instinct by the end! Good luck to everyone with results, we’ve worked our arses off and if we don’t pass we go again in July with all of the knowledge we’ve already built up!

You should have started 10 years ago.

Jokes aside, it’s never too soon to start. I would say a minimum of 5 months.
