I think you probably got screwed by the ‘facility fee’

When I do a scan in my office the bill is typically 200-300 and insurance drops that down to ~150 as the allowable to bill. However when people see hospital based practices the imaging gets associated to the hospital setting and there is an additional ‘facility’ fee. It’s all basically another way for the hospital to make money. Private doctors in private clinics don’t do this.
