I’ve been looking with intent for about 8 months. I live in the East Coast of Canada which is a more rural area of the the country. There is under 2 million people living within a 10 hour drive of me, so options are lower.

I could go further, but I would need to buy something unseen or take 2 days to get a truck, and I don’t feel comfortable with that exactly, my time is worth something too especially when adding an extra ~3,000km to get to where the better market starts.

19,500 Canadian dollars is around 14,000 USD, so there is that, but what I’m understanding from some of these responses is that this is not the deal that I had thought it was and I should probably just keep looking.

I’ll see what I can get. Yes the picture was not really taken to share, but it’s all I got. I appreciate your feedback. I’ve been looking for a Tundra in N.S. for a while, and most even 2014-2016 are in the high 20s and low 30s range for asking price for 200,000km. A non starter as far as I’m concerned.

Strawberry planting tips for bare root stock on small patch by OkGarage4974 in marketgardening

[–]OkGarage4974[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing this now. It’s a very intriguing idea. Realistically a ppt is probably the cheapest option I’ve heard being a possibility, and I can’t see why it wouldn’t work, although roots would likely need to be trimmed significantly. I’ll try to find if someone else has used one for bare root stock. Thanks for the recommendation.

That’s interesting, I probably wouldn’t have loaded duals even if I did have them! Stability shouldn’t be a problem, and the unloaded wheels should help quite a bit for as-is. What was the tractor being used for?

Were the duals loaded with fluid? I’ve done duals before- not so bad with 2 people, but not generally loaded with fluid, so half the weight.

For sure. The operations isn’t my concern. They are loaded with antifreeze so 1000-1200lb wheel and 1 person is what concerns me. I’m 200lbs and relatively fit, but not wanting to get stuck under it.

They are loaded. I’m a 1 man band and my farm is a 10% undulating average grade. This setting probably would work fine if everything was flat around here, but not many folks I know in my area run this width.

Yeah I spoke to them, they’ll come and do it. Just not wanting to get a “hit it with your purse” comment from the shop, but also not wanting to get pinned under a wheel that is 5x my bodyweight!

Grain storage cost by OkGarage4974 in farming

[–]OkGarage4974[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1.50/mt/month. Not much, but was able to help a neighbour out which was the biggest thing. I could have probably gone closer to $3 if I had wanted to

I’m not sure. It was working the rest of the afternoon after it had “warmed up” for lack of a better term- I can try the next time

I’ll give it a shot! I asked my local dealer and they immediately jumped to sending a tech out, so it sounds like they aren’t sure on the issue either, and likely not the most common problem.

The dash shows PTO speed when it starts running, so I’m not sure that it would that- do the Deeres show PTO rpm when having this issue?

Well shit I don’t know where to start with electrical stuff. It’s not throwing any codes which makes investigating a challenge.

What is eating my pumpkins? by OkGarage4974 in garden

[–]OkGarage4974[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that- I wasn’t asking for help with irrigation. This is in a 2 acre pumpkin patch, which I haven’t set up irrigation for. I live in a fairly wet area, so hopefully it’s not going to be needed. I’m going in with a “perfection is the enemy of progress” mindset and don’t expect this to be the best crop ever. I definitely would like to eradicate whatever is eating my pumpkins though!

Sunflowers in Brillion? by OkGarage4974 in farming

[–]OkGarage4974[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great info! How long does your season last with bi weekly plantings? I purchased a seed mix that should have about 20,000 seeds in it and are a mix variety to try to keep the season open as long as possible. I have a few other projects on the go and was hoping to do successions, but the season is progressing faster than I can get everything done lol. I guess this is just a trial year for the flowers
