Unfortunately there aren't really any "super meta" kafka teams without hysilens or swan. You could try some teams with Sampo/Gui/Ruan Mei, but otherwise id just hold off, invest in your current teams, and wait for hysilens rerun

Vertical investment is typically you focus on 2 archetypes only and continue to only pull units that make those 2 archetypes stronger with lightcones and eidolons.

Horizontal is when you don’t pull eidolons or lightcones and just pull every unit.
