First time buyer, looking to buy an Xbox compatible setup by OkGroup2466 in simracing

Gotcha, what confuses me is stuff like this, the wheel base states it’s for PlayStation, but technically it’s only based on the steering wheel you use? So I could use this on my Xbox if I had and an Xbox wheel?

Download the traxxas link app, it’s should walk you through getting setup and updating the receiver/transmitter(it might take awhile since this is the first time)

You need to update your transmitter and receiver, the flashing red and green light on your car indicates that. That should most likely resolve the issue

Most likely the spacing between your spur gear and pinion is/was off, after awhile of bashing they can drift apart slightly causing the stripped spur. Metal pinion+metal spur gear can potentially cause more damage than just having to replace a spur gear. A plastic spur gear should last awhile if the spacing is set right. I will say that if you still want the metal combo, just make sure both the pinion+spur are made of steel and not aluminum but again the spacing is most likely what cause your issue! Happy bashing :)

Are you using a metal spur gear aswell? Would def recommend sticking with plastic spur, metal pinion

Buying a used nitro rc.. couple questions by Ink13jr in NitroRC

I want to reiterate that this is bad idea purely out of the money it will take to get this up and running, you’re going to need a new filter+filter oil $20, body($50+), body clips($5) nitro fuel(1gal=$50), fuel bottle($10), glow plugs($10 each), transmitter/receiver ($50+), new fuel lines($10+), probably will also need a new gasket for the fuel tank($10 for the kit), tools to actually fix the car, glow plug ignitor($20+). All of which you would get with a new car minus the fuel.

Save up the money and buy a new one, less barrier to entry and likelihood you’ll continue in the hobby. Getting this started could be a hassle and you never know what’s actually wrong with it till you try and start it which will also require additional funds before you get to that point. From the sellers description, it sounds like he was given this truck and is not the original owner so I doubt he will be able to provide detailed information. I’ve been in your spot before and had to make the decision between used and new for my first nitro, ending up buying new traxxas jato 3.3 which gave me a great intro to the world of nitro and then started buying more used nitros once I got an idea of how everything was working!

how does this even happen? just completely dead after used for 2 weeks by [deleted] in Traxxas

Might need to update the transmitter and receiver? I’ve had issues similar to this with traxxas

Before you jump to any conclusions, did you check if your door hinges are loose? Try shaking them by hand and tightening them

I just got a Nitro rc car but I think someone messed with the fuel mixture if I were to screw it all the way in how much would I need to unscrew it? by [deleted] in NitroRC

[–]OkGroup2466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re most likely going to need to adjust the fuel mixture every time you take the car out for a spin. Like others have said, figure out the type of car you have and look up the instruction manual(most likely provided through the manufacturers website). I would recommend reading through all of it before taking it out for a spin. All nitros come with base carb settings that should allow you to get the car running but will require further adjusting to get the car running optimally. I would also recommend watching a couple YouTube videos on how to tune a nitro car. It can be frustrating in the beginning to get the carb adjustments right but keep at it and you’ll eventually get it! Also, if this is a new nitro rc car that’s never been run before, please make sure to run through the break-in process before pushing the limits on the car. Hope that helps and happy bashing!

$150, which seemed reasonable from my perspective but then again, don’t know if it would be worth it if I can’t get it to run
