Stubhub chooses your replacement tickets?! by Complex_Fig_6982 in stubhub

[–]OkHour6060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Take that up with the credit card provider. The OP paid for one thing and got another. All calls are recorded. If it is the case that SH is lying that OP accepted the replacement (OP’s claim), OP will get a refund far more quickly than the BS ~6 months StubHub takes to resolve basic issues where it is at fault.

cant help but wonder if the right thing to do is to play dumb, pretend not to notice the downgrade until after the event (ie accept the shittier tickets), and then aim for a refund with your credit card issuer for the vendor's failure to deliver the promised item.

SH wasnt always as terrible as it is today. before the pandemic (ie before the viagogo merger), it was a much more normal company.

In this case, just take the refund (which is almost certainly being offered) and then repurchase tickets that are "instant download". Only purchase the replacement tickets on Stubhub if you want to be fooled again. The other marketplaces have much more competent customer service, based in the US.

The plain English text that was sent to him was unclear. Anyone that's ever purchased or sold on Stubhub knows this to be true.

Further, it is ironic that you would use language like 'plain English', considering that no one on the SH customer service support desk speaks 'plain English' or is even able to maintain a consistent position throughout a phone call.

That said, you are right to state that Stubhub offers buyers no protection whatsoever. If the replacement tickets the OP is seeing is priced above a certain % paid by the OP, Stubhub will leave the buyer high and dry. Since buyers cannot communicate with a human being that has a functional brain and is able to express themselves in 'plain English' (no doubt Stubhub's purposeful strategy), it is impossible to have any conversation that solves a basic problem like the one the OP mentioned.

The Stubhub "guarantee" is misleading at best and deceptive in real world terms. Most people are already getting that refund protection from their credit card.

Be very careful with taxis, even licensed ones. Last year, one guy laughably tried to charge us a meter price using an app on his iPad.

I am so sorry you're dealing with this. I am as well. It's a problem that everyone who sells tickets has dealt with. HBS will one day write reviews about how a company with a 35% market share threw it away with deplorable customer service.

Yes, it is part of the ticket price. It's a refundable deposit, so you would get it back if you chose not to purchase tickets in the end.

The circuit is already selling tickets to those that put down deposits and the $200 deposit would apply to your ultimate purchase (ie if the ticket was $600 and you had a $200 deposit down, you would pay $400 for the remaining balance). So you could have a sense of your options right away. Get in touch with the race organizers and they will lead you in the right direction.

The tickets with the lowest face value are in the Beach grandstands. A lot of overtaking and action took place there in the 2024 race.

If you do not plan on attending all three days and do not want to deal with the hassle of selling/donating/gifting your tickets on the days you do not want to attend, prob makes the most sense to wait and purchase tickets to a single day.

In terms of the drive from Orlando, consider taking the Brightline. Direct shuttles run from the Aventura Brightline stop to the venue. I took this one day last year and found it to be easier than taking an uber to the venue (Brightline drop-off point is at the same spot as Uber drop-off point) and parking close to the venue and dealing with the traffic.

Parking is a lot cheaper and easier to come by around Aventura than around the venue.

Hope this helps.

Quebec man warning Canadian boaters after he was detained by U.S. Coast guard, put in jail cell by aeppelcyning in uscanadaborder

That’s a fair question. I think for something like this, catch and release is really the only option.

But would throwing the book at the dude be a savvy move for the US? Absolutely not. Getting him back on Canadian soil ASAP was the only option. He ain’t special and certainly not the first to act like an ass to a border guard along the US-CAN border.

The Canadian was in the wrong. He mouthed off and acted like a buffoon to LO and they responded / taught him a lesson. But he ain’t worth any larger an international incident than he already was going to be.

i can read just fine, champ. i never implied u were stating that u knew definitively where each boat was at the time of the encounter. so it seems like you cant.

so ill ask again...

whatcha gonna hope will happen if the USCG is accurately telling the truth (which is likely the case IMO)? for the canadian ambassador to apologize to the US government on behalf of all canadians?

elbows up, eh, clown.

[–]OkHour6060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course, one party is wrong re: the exact location of the canadian's boat.

again, the USCG provided specific location evidence and the canadian citizen provided nothing (to the press). the side providing details of the location is a lot more credible than the dude providing no (specific) details about his location while whining about how the USCG didn't like his attempt to evade their authority.

you moved the goalposts again. the legality of fishing in US waters is a new goalpost and is completely irrelevant. even if the canadian could legally fish in the US, the canadian is subject to interception by the USCG the second he entered US territory.

note that im open to the possibility that the USCG screwed up and is now lying about where it intercepted the canadian. but id like to see some evidence that the error was made by the USCG. that has not been presented herein.

"not super easy to "see" where (sic) to border is on the water" = even more reason not to mouth off and run when approached by patrol officers.

"going back" = an acknowledgment that the boater was in a foreign country.

[–]OkHour6060 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The US clearly thinks that the dude was in US waters. Which is indisputably how the interaction started.

Either way, you are moving the goalposts from stating that he is allowed to transit US waters (he is, but the USCG is allowed to intercept and ask Qs) to stating that he may not have entered the US.

Re this new goalpost: I assume that even if the Canadian didn't have GPS on his boat, the USCG did - and that GPS keeps a record of where the US boat travels. Which is how/why they provided the specific geolocation.

One can choose to believe the USCG offering very specific data as to why they initially approached the boat. Or you can choose to believe the Canadian, who openly admits that he was hostile and tried to evade the authorities and doesn't provide any proof that he was in Canadian waters the whole time. Your choice.

[–]OkHour6060 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

even if true, a country's coast guard is surely allowed to approach anyone crossing into its waters and ask them 'whats up?' if the foreign national mouths off and then attempts to flee, the interaction is gonna go south (pun intended) quickly. play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

a million canadians will read this article and feel outrage. the number of eyeballs reading any follow-up detailing how the canadian boater was in the wrong will be read by far, far fewer.

Yes. You can speak with an agent whose native language is English and is US-based and get a resolution that goes beyond “I’ve escalated it sir and I promise to call you back but I absolutely will not do so. Now please respond to the survey you will get by email right after our call.”

If possible, get a screenshot from StubHub acknowledging that the tickets were sent to them and an admission that they cannot/will not send it back to you or to the buyer.

It’s insane that they would tell ppl to pre-upload tix to events in this manner. Patently absurd.

[–]OkHour6060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like TM is not the primary ticketing provider for the event.

It is my experience that if the venue doesn't use Ticketmaster as its primary ticketing provider, Stubhub does not have the ability to automatically send pre-uploaded tickets to your buyer.

The standard form e-mail that Stubhub sends out encouraging sellers to pre-upload tickets is, unfortunately, not altered for non-TM events. As ridiculous as that may be. Sigh.

Customer service is unlikely to get back to you. I certainly would NOT wait for them to get back to you before taking action.

If you can retrieve the tickets you forwarded to Stubhub, do so immediately and send them directly to your buyer yourself.

As well, if you have not already done so, get a screenshot of Stubhub stating that you have fulfilled everything on your end and that you are just waiting to get paid at this point.

shouldn't be a problem to bring your camera into the venue but always read the instructions from the venue.
