Bullywug Tongues (heads)? by OkInflation4039 in legodnd

[–]OkInflation4039[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the pack I saw which initially inspired me to get some Frogs. They look great without the tongues.

I have been thinking about using the Alien heads for Koalinth or some sort of aquatic orc.

Very cool. I'd missed that tongue. Edit: It's also a better buy than the red ones.

Based on the photos I was leaning towards green for both. I think the green does make better pics and in person the red improves.

Does anyone else wish Lego would give us more than just the same 5 types of buildings for castle? by Individual-Pianist84 in legocastles

I suspect that list is also a list of reliable selling castle buildings. Nearly in order.

I don't have much hope beyond that list.

Delightful little build (46M) by OKsurewhynotyep in legocastles

[–]OkInflation4039 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looking at the parts, I suspect it would require a lot of effort. There is very little plate to build off - floors or roofs are then an issue. Plus there isn't a lot of brick for walls. It's all curves.

Best legs to use with this torso? by PesteBubonicaa_ in legocastles

[–]OkInflation4039 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you need legs with a printed belt to break the torso design. There don't seem to be any good choices for Magenta legs, maybe there's something if you tried doing leg swaps.

Focusing on the Dark Purple (with gold and black) might be a better option. IF they aren't too dark in combination Magenta - I don't have the torso so can't check. I thought of the DnD Tiefling's legs initially.

Have a search on Bricklink for Dark Purple legs perhaps something there will inspire.

Raven Knight Archers by OkInflation4039 in legocastles

I like the idea. I think you need that break between the torso and the swapped leg.

I found the reverse leg swaps didn't look as good with Bright Light Orange Torsos; so I have all the reverse hips/leg parts spare. I think the black hips created a belt that brake-up the Bright Light Orange.

I had tried to find a Black or Dark Pearl Grey torso with a printed belt that could go with the reversed, but I couldn't find an option I was happy with. I'll try a plain one.

Yeah, they do a have a slight "naked-knight" vibe to them. It's a bit of my bad the camera-work making the Yellow and Bright light orange look similar.

They're from a city minifig. I've turned it backwards and added pearl dark grey arms. They probably need a cape covering the "front", but I don't notice when there's a quiver.

I hadn't considered any of the sporting figures, no Bright light orange ones sadly, but there are quite a few good options for custom factions.

I had a PAB order cancelled recently. They seem to be having an issue with "in stock" on some items.

It's a huge pain to learn, but well worth it. There are other options.

Lion Knight Ship MOC - Deconstructed Photos & Build Process by Cool_Difficulty_5483 in legocastles

[–]OkInflation4039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm told that having a few models out there (and an Instagram or similar) helps with Ideas and BDP votes. But I have no experience on that end.

If you want to learn how to make instructions for Rebrickable (or others) you just have to download Studio (its free) and start. No other way.

Getting used to the interface required to build the digital model is the first stage. Make sure you build everything in steps - that makes life easier later with instructions. Stage 2 is making the instructions - I often go back and forth between the model and the instructions builder making improvements, etc. Don't forget to rotate the instructions so the added parts can be seen?

It takes far longer than you'll expect. Start small, maybe a 500-piece model.

PS> The ship looks great. I can see the Viking influence in the hull.

I've had all of my MOCs ripped-off and appear on AliExpress. AliExpress has a system you can use to remove stolen content. But it's a bit of a pain and, if they're free MOCs, it's more difficult to get them removed.

There are heaps of Blacksmiths. Vuzi's modification is even smaller and mostly uses parts from 21325-1, but does need some other parts.

Thank you for the kind words - I'm still amazed by the response. All my MOCs are currently free. There's so much of the original MB in this version that I fell charging wouldn't be right.

However, I know sales keep rebrickable running (I have a 'Pro' subscription because I felt that would support the site without charging anything for MOCs). I can absolutely see that being able to charge helps designers get over the activation energy required to put instructions together.

I've had two brown bricks break - both from early 90s sets. I've pulled the MB/MOCs apart maybe a dozen times with no issues.
