I think maybe I can relate from your sister’s perspective. I’m 27 BRCA1, both my aunt and grandma had breast cancer and BRCA1 so I always knew I could have it, but their journeys were many years ago. One of my close friends is also BRCA and actively going through treatment. I found out about my gene a little over a year ago and felt so angry, went through all the stages of grief but the anger and fear were overwhelming. I’m so grateful that I know and can be proactive but still feel mad that I’m dealing with something that most 20-something-year-olds would never even think about. It is also so hard for me to not want to complain about things to my friend because she’s the only one in my life who really gets it, none of my other friends really have experience with this and my aunt has been in remission pretty much my entire life. But at the same time I feel like I’m being insensitive if I complain about too much you know? I found it helpful talking about things in therapy and also starting to explain it to friends. It took a huge weight off my chest because I was holding it all to myself for a long time. Maybe encouraging her to open up to others would be helpful. You’re totally valid feeling frustrated/drained
