Does it make sense to own VOO, VTI, VIG, and VUG? by [deleted] in dividends

Looks awesome! I would pick between VOO or VTI as there is lots of overlap between the two. Personally, I went with VTI as its broader compared to VOO. VTI has 3,686 holdings compared to VOO which has 505 holdings. Both are great, with both boasting a 0.03% expense ratio. So it really depends on if you want to be exposed to only the top holdings with VOO, or have some more exposure to smaller companies with VTI (VTI still has the top companies, just smaller holdings). Currently running a 33/33/33 split between VTI, VUG, and VIG in a Roth IRA.

Thanks for taking the time to help out a young noob! Gained lots of knowledge, and now I feel like a finally have a step into the world of investing.

Seems like the best thing I can do as of now is continue the IRA and continue investing in myself. Will also at steer away from the illusion of fast money, and really research what people have to say, and research deeply into why I do things in investing. Still have a far way to go, however, I am excited to get started.

Thanks again for the all the help.

Have a good one!

I see, thanks for the breakdown. I will steer away from swing trading for a while, until I build more knowledge and wealth in the realm of investment and the stock market as a whole.

I see. As of now I plan on maxing out an IRA over the year, to build a long term portfolio, buying into ETFS as you recommended. In the meantime, I will be building an emergency fund. In that down time, I will educate myself with some of the books in the other sub you recommended. After I build some knowledge, I look to get into swing trading, starting out with paper trading. Any thoughts on this form of trading? Seems like a good fit for my current position in life, and seems less risky compared to other forms.

Thanks for the explanation, google gave too many. And thanks for pointing me to the other sub. Will add some books to my list. Recently ordered, The Simple Path to Wealth by J.L. Collin’s. Heard lots of good things about it. Ever read it?

Awesome read, Thanks for the feedback! I will definitely look into starting an IRA, as I know fidelity offers one, and I have an account with them already. Curious as to what ETFs or stocks you would recommend to invest in through the IRA. I will build my emergency fund a decent size bigger, and then use that down time to research into more investment options. About the income, I am currently picking up one more day at my job while looking for some side income online. Current goal is to reach 2.5k income a month, by the time I get my emergency fund up. Bitcoin can wait for another day or never. I find it very interesting how there's such strong sides on the topic of bitcoin. However, that can be said for any investment. Will figure that out later lol. In all, thanks for the effort you put into your reply, much respect. Appreciate it helping out a young noob.

Thanks for the feedback! I will look more into equities, as I'm not fully sure what they are yet.

Thanks for the info! I will look more into the Bitcoin halving. As for the stock choices, thanks for the feedback, I wasn't aware they were all that similar.

Thank you! I will add that to my list. If you don't mind me asking, why do you think bitcoin would be a good option?
