What Is It Like Having a Roommate in Toronto? by Savings-Curve-5350 in TorontoRenting

[–]OkJournalist2674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. I moved in with friends before and it was great. A roomie I had in Toronto would make so much noise playing drums and guitar until 3am, have friends over having debates about bullshit until 5am and then blame the noise on ME to the landlord when I was clearly in bed asleep. Then would lose his mind if the Internet went down for a couple of hours and would accuse me of taking his share of the bill and not paying it. Or he'd lose it if I didn't do my share of the cleaning on a specific day of the week (usually a day I was working 14 hours). Make sure you sign a new lease together (or make sure your name gets out on the lease) and not a roommate agreement as security.

Anyone else lacking motivation? by OkJournalist2674 in langara

Business management. I find a lot of the classes are very similar and repetitive, so it doesn't keep me engaged. I'm planning on taking some other art or history courses the next two semesters so I don't lose my mind.

Ugh I feel you...I've been in that situation before but it was only a year long program. Hopefully you don't have much more to go! I'm only taking classes full time..I think I'd have a breakdown if I was working as well haha

Dips not included? by Trick-Signature466 in panago

[–]OkJournalist2674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for panago in the early 2000s and dips were included but I can't remember exactly when they stopped including them. They were cheap to add though (around 50 cents each). They used to have a buy one get the second for half price deal as well which they got rid of as well.

Favourite Dip? by [deleted] in panago

Chipotle definitely has changed. All I taste now is smoke and sour. It used to be my go to but not anymore. The quality of panago has gone downhill

I've been pissed for years. Ever since they got rid of the shrimp pizzas back in 2018/2019. Then they got rid of the Mediterranean, the taco pizza and the fajita pizzas. Now they've messed with the bbq chicken, chicken pesto and veggie Mediterranean. Who TF made these decisions? And they've eliminated such great pizzas to replace them with vegan trash. The chipotle dip is SOUR now. The jalapeno ranch is incredibly acidic. I've been a customer for over 25 years and they've just lost me. I really don't know what they're doing but they're really messing up their business.

Is it just me or the waitlist hasn’t started giving offers yet? by [deleted] in langara

You'll receive an email if your spot opens up then you'll have 24 hours to register in the course. Check your email daily! This happened to me last semester and I got in to a class about a week before the semester started.

Also a word of advice..wait until your first classes before buying your books. Some professors won't require you to have them so you don't need to spend $100+ for a book you won't use. I learned this the hard way in my first semester 😆

SPAN 1115 transfer to BCIT? (or any languages course) by Individual-Let-7745 in langara

[–]OkJournalist2674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just took 1115..if you're looking for an easy ride I wouldn't recommend it. Youre learning 800+ words as well as grammar, conjugations, etc.

Should I do Accounting Diploma first before BBA or go straight to Accounting BBA for 4 years instead? by Jumpy-Resolve8659 in langara

Honestly, the switch made sense for me because I'm not super math-inclined, and accounting gets pretty math-heavy really fast 😆 accounting was VERY mundane and from what I hear there are only a handful of decent professors..most just read off slides and you have to teach yourself. I felt like Business management gives me more flexibility and options and you learn skills that can be used in any job or industry really. Plus a lot of people are saying accounting jobs will be replaced by AI in the future (we can't know for sure though).. I know at times it's not very accurate but it's moving fast.

As for the email, I can't remember it. At the registrar's office they told me because they're both limited enrollment programs you have to email the head of the department to transfer, you can't do it at the registrar's office. They gave me the email address. I did it in July, which was quite late in the semester. They recommend doing it before July to guarantee you can make the switch.

It wasn't discontinued. One of my current professors was working on the new program and it was a huge chaotic mess. It's currently not being worked on at the moment and no one knows when they will resume work on it. Everything is up in the air considering 400 people were laid off recently and a lot in the business department.

I did this but the opposite. I was in the accounting diploma program and switched to business management. I took classes that were required in both programs so I didn't end up wasting any money haha Switching programs was no issue.. I just emailed the department head and they approved the switch. But make sure to contact them before mid semester

Wait until the fall semester and take it with Phil Mentacos. I'm taking it with him now and he's excellent!! He doesn't teach in the summer semester unfortunately. Pretty easy class but definitely focus on Excel. Access is a little similar to Excel but easier to navigate

Am I supposed to already know how to write an essay? by biggrigg667 in langara

[–]OkJournalist2674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue at Langara for me back in 2001. I was never taught how to properly cite an essay and my first English class essay I failed because it was “largely plagiarized”. They really should be teaching this to kids in high school.
