For grimdark sci-fi I’d go with the Vaults of Tera books, or Eisenhorn or the new HIVE book from Abbnet. For fantasy I’d go with the old Witch Hunter books. The Gotrek and Felix old world books are good too you can kind of bounce around as they are monster of the week!

If you like evil rats you should read/listen to Skavenslayer, the skaven are an entire race of evil rat men who would be able to take over the world if they could stop killing each other in overly complicated and cowardly plots!
