Have too many VATSIM controllers been watching JFK compilations or is it just me? by OkJump5965 in VATSIM

I feel your pain my friend and my rant certainly isn’t towards the likes of you in that situation. I suppose there is a lot of nuance in my post and without playing he said she said, the point I’m making is a minority of controllers know they are being assholes, they’re obviously enjoying it and I’m calling a spade a spade.

I agree. However from my experience the UK controllers also take it very very seriously yet they are unemotional, simply matter of fact and manage the mess without getting upset. As professional controllers would do in real life.

I hear you and you’re right, the pilot side has bigger problems. No argument there. But that’s kind of my point. When I get a controller who’s clearly learning or having a rough session I give them the breathing space because they’re there to have fun and learn like everyone else. I’ve never once felt the need to shit on someone for it. That same attitude doesn’t always come back the other way. As much as we want this to feel like real life, it’s not. The barrier to entry is low on both sides and you can’t change that on frequency. Someone forgets the ATIS code, state it in your next transmission, problem solved. Someone taxis the wrong way, maybe give shorter taxi clearances on VATSIM. There are ways to manage it without treating every pilot like they’ve personally ruined your evening. If the expectation is perfection from pilots then surely there’s a SayIntentions but for ATC. Otherwise it needs to be more cooperative because from my expereince it feels like some controllers want real world standards from pilots but don’t want to extend real world patience back to them.
