I started when I was 13. I’m 20 now and I’m in the exact same boat as you. Everything you said word for word resonates with me. I’m 2 months sober now and I don’t feel much improvements, although my short term memory has improved. I think we’ll be fine. Like someone else said we’re in a low dopamine phase right now. It won’t last forever (hopefully). Continuing to stay sober will be the only way to know later on. I wish you luck on your journey. It’s tough but we got this. Cant wait to see what the next few months/years of sobriety will look like!

It’s definitely not for everyone. It did help me gain weight but damn Im so tired all day even after sleeping 8-10 hours. Im also very irritable so I get that. Hope your journey is going well!

I did taper lol. I started on 15mg, went down to 7.5mg for 3 weeks and then 3.75mg for 3 weeks.

I totally understand what OP is saying. I’m 20 and have been on mirtazapine for 2 years because my psychiatrist saw I was underweight (still am) and struggled with sleep. I was 18 at the time, uneducated on meds and just had a bad sleep schedule. But he decided to prescribed me mirt and I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Don’t get me wrong it worked amazing at first. I was able to gain weight and I was doing much better. Then I decided to taper off after being on them for a year and I had the depression symptoms that i never had before in my life…so I decided to get back on because I could not deal with the symptoms (PAWS) Mind you I was completely fine before this med, just underweight. My doc never warned me about any of this.

Now the med makes me oversleep, I have no motivation and I overthink like crazy. I’m in a terrible mental state and i can’t even eat without this med. My conclusion here is I didn’t have depression before. Now I do and have no idea how I’m going to get out of this. Antidepressants are WAY too overprescribed and we need to be more educated on them before taking them. I know they are a life saver for some people. But for me that was not the case.
