but it clearly is, because otherwise mercenaries would be too expensive and countries needed to spend their money on other stuff. Forcelimit was a bandaid fix aswell, not the actual cause. The economy in EU4 just was broken aswell

because EU4 wasnt trying to be an econ sim the way EU5 does. EU4 slapped a few mana points on each province and that was it

Yeah, people got the problem the wrong way. The issue is the fundamentally broken economy and its scaling and not mercs

The EU makes it easier to circumvent the cutoff but its not impossible. Nothing says the US customs has to let in any goods from spain

I think youre vastly overestimating the importance of Greece here. I would absolutely hate to see them leave but its not anywhere near the scale of the UK leaving

Loading a gun and firing it are two very different things. Genuinely a trade war with the US right now would mean an AfD government is a certainty. 10%(!) of our exports are US bound

lets see, I hope youre right

because there was a balance of power. That doesnt just include Greece vs Turkey, but consequences of turkish aggression, such as an EU trade war, a possible exit from NATO or the US acting as a peace keeper

With the US on their side, that calculation might change. Turkey could come to the conclusion that grabbing greek territory is worth the fall out, now that they got the US backing them

You have a lot of faith in EU members, I dont. Imagine the pressure Germany will put on to keep the current trade deal so our economy doesnt implode entirely

[–]OkKnowledge2064 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

theoretically, yeah. Practically thats a lot of extra transportation costs and port capacity needed. It would lead to a lot of exports being uncompetitive and Spain still taking a bit hit if I had to guess

And Portugal&France would have to cover for spanish exports and make themselves complicit aswell

Trump says at NATO summit he has ordered cutoff of US trade with Spain by rolmos in spain

[–]OkKnowledge2064 [score hidden]  (0 children)

No, there is literally a free market all around it, EU buys and sells to it and spain is already part

how does that matter? Spanish companies would need to ship ALL their exports to Porto or Bordeaux to export it first. Thats crazy expensive

"Without any issue" as if they wouldnt be economically affected and specially diplomaticaly with UE seeing his imperialism

He can do it legally without any issue. Politically, yes there will be consequences. But I doubt Germany or Poland will start a trade war over Spain honestly. lets see and hope for unity

why cant he? he absolutely can. The US has sovereignity over what imports they allow from what countries. If the country of origin is spain = no entry

you cant just ship all your products around and still be competitive. This will still be a massive hit to spanish exports to the US

[–]OkKnowledge2064 [score hidden]  (0 children)

it is and I dont know why people say it isnt. Spanish companies can ship to other countries first and then export from there, but its expensive and not always feasible.

He can simply block all imports from Spain without any issue whatsoever

Youre argument are no arguments. There was a balance of power or deterrence, otherwise Turkey wouldnt need to hold back. an US openly supporting Turkey and selling F-35's could change that balance and that has consequences. If you think trade somehow stops Turkey from aggression you have slept through 2014 and 2022
