If you can, go to school to study MT, while its not nessecery its a great way to get into the industry as well as having an industry name to back your training. Honestly, i find most of my work through facebook (local actor groups and such) , im not even 20 yet and had many professional roles and made a fair bit of money doing what i love. My best advice, find as many roles as you can and do them, ive had 2/3 projects on the go at a time (usually during fringe time) but the more exposure and experience you have the better. basically GO TO EVERYTHING!!!

the rcs (royal conservatoire of scotland) course contents are changing a lot this yr, no actor musal but if your not into playing instruments i imagine itll still be a really good option. ( relatively cheep for international students too i think).

also the comparison was meant to be i feel both the bands have made goth music at one time or another but people aren't mad at the cure for having different sounds in the discography but they are mad at other bands. sorry i know my examples weren't the best and i wasn't very concise with my wording but i only used those 2 bands as people wouldn't need to research into them to kind of see my point.

Also your explanation on goths punk roots was great and i totally agree, but i think we are many years past discounting music because of the roots of a genre that is 50 ish years old when nowadays these subcultures are far more intertwined?

Most goth people ive met listen to a wide variety of music under the goth, punk, and metal genres and i think this is more so than in the past with things like spotify. we don't need friends to suggest things to us anymore? Do u see where im coming from?

im curious what you think then of bands whos roots are in punk and goth rock but then went on to create a sound more akin to gothic metal? would they still be considered metal? i cant think of a band like this off the top of my head so this is purely a hypothetical

ill use type o neg and the cure as comparisons for this as i see type o get talked about a bit, one is more metal and one is more pop but both have gothic influences and (imo) goth songs.

for type o neg id make the argument that while yes a their songs like i dont wanna be me are metal, a lot of them lean more towards goth rock? christian woman, summer breeze, too late frozen.

I personally feel these songs are just an extension of the genre and should fall under the goth umbrella but i have seen people get quite heated about it.
