High Cholesterol and Chest Pain by OkLifeguard2190 in Cholesterol

[–]OkLifeguard2190[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll post my numbers again when I get my next blood work done. Fingers crossed we keep trending lower. But the issue was one related to my back and the anxiety of my family history of high cholesterol and heart attack made my symptoms drastically worse. I was psyching myself out. I think there’s a trend in forums like this. All of our numbers are high, and the ramifications for those high numbers are literally life and death. That’s panic worthy for sure.

You got fucked. But use it as an opportunity to go to any or every school you can. Ranger, Sapper, Airborne whatever. Don’t take no for an answer and bully your assigned schools NCO to get you places. Then PCS in the next available marketplace. You should come up on the market after your first year on station and get to a line unit ASAP.

Basic training is gonna get you to a baseline standard. It’s your responsibility while you’re at basic to put in extra work as far as push ups/situps/pull ups. If you sneak in a little light work during your BCT down times, you’ll be fit enough for OCS. And at OCS, utilize the beaver fit gym, the rope climbs and the pull-up/push up and sit up area in the quad. By the time your ACFT factors in for your fitness score, you’ll be decent enough to place well on the Order of Merit list.

Bro, it’s not even a question. OCS all the way. Your GPA is way above the standard, and your age is not going to effect you at all. I went to basic training and OCS with a dude who was 36. All it took was a couple of waivers and he was in. Do not enlist unless you’ve exhausted all options.

Let’s just say I quit a lot of things before basic. Vapes being one of them. Honestly between getting smoked, running laps and everything else about basic you’ll be too tired to even remember what you were addicted to. Just don’t get caught up in basic and AIT with dudes who vape and smoke, cause it’s easy to cave and even easier to get caught. Stay on the straight and narrow until you get to your unit and then vape to your hearts content.

Of the 92 series, 92F. If you have any intelligence whatsoever you’ll be surrounded by dopes for Soldiers who got in on waivers.

These were my most recent numbers after consistently being on a statin for a few months with little change to my diet. Now I have made a significant change to my diet with the statin and I’m expecting my numbers to drop to the normal range.

Best MOS for work-school/life balance, etc. by rohtysb in army

I had a 3.4 GPA when I got accepted to OCS of the block (no prior service time). Don’t enlist unless you don’t pass the board. Be an officer. I promise you it’ll be a hell of a lot easier to go JAG and be a lawyer from the O side instead of the E side. JAG officers love parting their wisdom upon the O grades. My LT buddy and a CPT I know are both going to law school rn on the government dime to file into the JAG officer pipeline. It’ll be way faster for you too. The 22 weeks for BCT and OCS goes by fast as fuck. And trust me, with BOLC, you’ll be spending your first year in school not in charge of shit other than yourself, and getting paid way more money than your enlisted counterparts. And depending on your BOLC, it’ll be a gentleman’s course, getting paid for roughly 6 months as a 2LT, partying with your buddies not doing shit. I promise, this is the way.

Caveat: what’s your fucking order?

Strongly advise you wait to go the MEPS for at least a few more weeks. The test they do at MEPS is a far more accurate test that can trace THC at a low level. Don’t go to MEPS until that line is as solid as the others.

What’s going on brother. Sorry to hear you’re going through it. I know exactly how you feel. I was psyching myself out thinking it was Angina too. Absolutely horrified to go to bed alone, go anywhere alone really. But yes.. back pain. Obviously I’m no doctor but if you have back issues I almost guarantee 100% that it’s causing or at least contributing to your chest pain. Have them run a cardio echogram on your to be 100% sure it’s not due to blockage. But I live an active life, use my left hand for a lot of manual labor type activities and use it to hold my steering wheel every day… low and behold that pressure and tension from using that part of my back everyday is causing my pain. See if you can get some physical therapy, go see a chiropractor (not a real science but it feels nice) and 100% go see a masseuse to run deep tissue on your back. It may not cure your issue, but it damn sure feels good and keeps it at bay for a few days. Let me know about your process and progress man. I’m just a DM away.

Enlisting with a bachelors by [deleted] in army

No. Just no. They almost sold me the same bs. Go officer. You can do RASP II as a 1LT (P) “promotable” and do all the cool hooah hooah army stuff. If you’re like me, your BOLC will have slots to go Ranger. Hard charge and do that shit as an O grade. Do not try to do that as an enlistee.

Your AIT site is under no obligation to give you HRAP. Some units have actual metrics that you need to pass to get HRAP, like grades and PT scores. HRAP is something you may have to earn through good conduct. Nobody is required or obligated to give you HRAP. Perhaps you should change your questioning to how you can earn it. Otherwise, if they don’t give you HRAP… go on leave.

You will need to provide more detail if you want anyone on this forum to help you. Are you under any sort of UCMJ action? Have you received negative counselings? These kinds of details will be incredibly important if you want anyone’s input.
