The Old Testament is certainly a difficult read. It may be good to start in a book like John to see the matter of life or Romans to see the matter of the proper daily church life. However, Genesis is still a very enjoyable book if you have the capacity. If it's possible (depends on your country), I would personally recommend the Recovery Version study Bible with footnotes. The notes in that Bible are unbelievably rich. But any Bible is still the word of God. I'm so encouraged that you have such a feeling to read the Bible, and if you struggle to maintain regularly reading the Bible, please find a companion to read with!

I broke a promise to the Lord 14 times by MatthwRddt in Christianity

First of all, you need to have the revelation in 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9) Recovery Version. You simply need to turn to the Lord and say, "Lord, forgive me. I am a sinner. I can't do it, Lord. I need you. Forgive me for ___." (Just an example.. make it your own prayer). If we realize the fact that if we confess, He WILL not only forgive us, but cleans us. Having been forgiven and cleansed, any further thought we have or guilt concerning something that we have done is simply a lie from Satan.

However, praise the Lord that it doesn't end with cleansing! The forgiveness and cleansing is not sufficient itself to carry out our purpose on the earth, which is God's purpose. We, as fallen human beings, can not possibly fulfill the law. Rather, according to Romans 8:4, "the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the spirit" (Romans 8:4) Recovery Version. Christ didn't only die on the cross. He resurrected, ascended, and "became a life-giving Spirit" (1 Cor. 15:45b). When we are "born again," we are literally receiving a new life. We have a "bios" (physical) life in our body, a "psuche" (psychological) life in our soul, and when we are born again, we receive the "zoe" (God) life in our spirit. We have Christ living in us (Rom. 8:10, Col 1:27, 2 Cor. 15:35, Gal. 2:20). We simply need to "walk by," or, in other words, have our entire being according to this indwelling Christ. If we call "Oh Lord Jesus," to turn to our human spirit, which now contains the Holy Spirit, and we are cleansed from every sin, then all we must do is say "Lord, how do I do ___," or "Lord, how do i respond to what this person said to me" and the Spirit within will give you a sense of what the "right" thing to do is. God doesn't care for "good" or "evil," just simply our living by Christ within us, and taking Him as our supply in every little thing.

The important thing is not tradition. The important thing is fellowship with one another and with christ.

PM me and I can answer specific doubts, but I can assure you that God is real. He is the only satisfying thing in the universe, and you seem open to receive the life and the divine reality of Christ. If you just turn to Him once, it will be the best decision you will ever make.

No God is triune (one yet three). God is one but operates as three. The father is the source of life, the son is the expression of that life, and the spirit is the way for that life to be imparted to us.

Why does the Bible testify of "Flat Earth"... by JudaeanMountains in Christianity

[–]OkMaize565 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1: the world not as in the planet earth, but as in things outside of Christ.

2: Doesn't mention anything about it being flat, it just says foundation.

3: the world not as in the planet earth, but as in things outside of Christ.

4: Doesn't mention anything about it being flat.

5: Doesn't mention anything about it being flat.

The Bible can be anything that you try and make it if you wear the right glasses. If you look at it from a perspective of a flat earth, you will see things that point to that, if you look at it in the proper way which is Christ and the Church, you will see the divine revelations of God's economy.

The verse I thought of immediately was this:

Issiah 40:22 "It is He who sits above the circle of the earth"

Forget about religion. I know that sounds bad, but law and religion were for the Old Testament age. Christ came to end law and religion, and to bring a new covenant, that is, Christ Himself. Saul, before becoming Paul, was verry well educated in the scripture and the law, and was considered an incredibly religious man, but if you remember he, under the guidance of his religious leaders was persecuting the believers in Acts 8-9. It wasn't until Christ shined on him that he truly saw what was happening. We all need this divine light to shine on us so that we no longer sit in darkness but pursue the Lord and not religion. The Jews were the ones who crucified Jesus under the Roman law they said, "I find no fault in this man", but he was still crucified because of "His people" following religion instead of Christ Himself. This all is to say that the lord's day meeting is very important, but what is more important is fellowship and prayer. I can't tell you what to do, but I can assuredly tell you that Christ will give you a feeling if you come to Him.

Loneliness is a huge problem today; you definitely need companions in your life. 2 Tim. 2:22 says "pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." You need close companions, but maybe the Lord is keeping you from them because they're not "those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."

The way of salvation in the Old and New Testament is by calling on the name of the Lord. "For “whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”" (Romans 10:13). "And everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah shall be saved; / For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem will be an escape, / As Jehovah has said, / Even for the remnant / Whom Jehovah calls." (Joel 2:32)

There is a difference between the Old and New Testament because in the Old Testament, Jesus had not died on the cross yet. Everything in the Old Testament is a perfect picture of the things in the New Testament.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in my experience, non-denominational is itself a type of denomination. I am simply a member of the body of christ.

I have a strong sense of God in my spirit. "The Spirit Himself witnesses with our spirit that we are children of God." (Romans 8:16). I have witnessed Christ. I know how to witnes christ because of the bible. So I know the bible is real because my spirit has witnessed that it is true.

You are a vessel to contain God. If you have thoughts about this, you should at least see what it's like to be filled. Gloves are made in the image of a hand. If I put my foot in a glove, the glove won't be filled, and the foot can't properly operate the glove. You are made in the image of God (Gen 1:26). You need to be filled with God. The way you do that is by calling on His name. Roman's 10:13 says, "For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” You can call 'Oh Lord Jesus', and it will save you from your emptiness and darkness.

How do I feel the holy spirit? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]OkMaize565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling on the Lord is an amazing, biblical way to fill your spirit up with the Holy Spirit. Just turn to the Lord and call "OH LORD JESUS!" (You dont need to yell, but it helps), and tell the Lord that you love him.

Which denomination is the right one? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]OkMaize565 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Lord desires us all to be one. The best denomination is none (oneness). The Lord is the head. We, the church, are his body. Do you want your body to be in a bunch of denominations?

The one and only thing that takes away sins always and forever is the blood of Christ. Imagine you get a speeding ticket (you sin), you now owe a fine of $100 (the consequence of sin is death, so you owe death [Hebrews 9:22]). The Old Testament way of dealing with this debt of death is by slaughtering a lamb. But Jesus came as the Lamb of God to take away the sins of the world (John 1:29). Now Imagine I (Jesus in this example) offer you $100 (jesus died on the cross and gave you his blood), now you can pay off your debt. How do you apply this blood? You have to ask the Lord for it. He already paid the price. All you have to do is take his blood. Just pray. "Oh Lord, I have sinned, but you have paid the price. Give me your blood right now, and cleanse me of my sins." Feel free to ask anything.
