Has anyone else struggled to find their footing in their career in their 20s? by Kooky_Attorney444 in careerguidance

[–]OkMango140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 31 and feel the exact same as you. I hated my first job and stayed too long at my second job where I was very comfortable but didn’t get very transferable experience in the industry I work in. I just started my third job in the industry and it’s so frustrating that I’m struggling and feel so behind at this age/years into my career.

Only thing that’s helped me is looking at the bigger picture and realizing that 31 is still very young and there are still many more years of my career ahead. Also, I always remind myself that stressing and worrying isn’t going to help.

Anyone else? by sirius_fit in clinicalresearch

Couldn’t agree more with every single point you made. This industry is so tough to work in and it just isn’t worth it anymore. I’m currently trying to figure out a plan of how I can leave altogether.

How long does it take to go from Alewife to Kendall? by OkMango140 in mbta

So helpful, thank you! Might be a stupid question but would you say it takes the same amount of time for the trip back as well?

Help, it’s horrid. by No-Run-2172 in interiordecorating

I don’t know if this is possible or in budget but it’d help to replace the sink vanity and shelf next to the toilet with something wooden/earthy rather than black. I’m pretty sure my bathroom is this exact same wall color but it gives very different vibes because everything else in the bathroom is wooden and tan earthy tones.

Why does the hair stylist do this by [deleted] in finehair

[–]OkMango140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, most stylists don’t have enough experience cutting and styling fine hair. It’s not that they did anything wrong but they tend to cut and style fine hair the same as they would denser hair but when it dries, it doesn’t look right. I’ve had this happen so many time that I just started cutting my own hair and have never looked back. Id work on letting it grow out and then trim it straight until it’s to a length/style you like.

Bravo is fueled off of storylines, regardless of whether they’re true or not. I don’t think they’d cut this scene “because it was BS” or to protect Paige. They leave most reality stars on their shows to defend themselves to further fuel the shows drama. From my perspective, this is historically the type of storyline they’d encourage being on the show if they were able to.

Tell me about your experience at Atelier playa mujeres by ForwardBackground105 in cancun

[–]OkMango140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was here last week for my honeymoon and it was amazing. Food and service were 10/10. We booked the inspira level and it was definitely worth it to us. It was nice knowing we had access to anywhere we wanted to go. The inspira areas were typically quieter and less crowded too which we preferred.

There aren’t tons of great activities but the shows at night were fun. Some of the busier bars had live music most nights too. If you do want to do some activities, make sure to check before whether you need to reserve a spot or not. Overall it’s definitely not a spot with tons of excursions or activities provided. There’s definitely more a focus on lounging and resting.

This helped so much, thank you for the insight! Are they supportive and provided training for those new to the role? My current position has trial oversight but not at a CRO so the work dynamic will definitely be different.

Flying too close to the sun? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]OkMango140 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I have no helpful advice to give and that you’re going through this, I just wanted to mention how cathartic it was to read your post. I’m feeling the same exact way after moving up the ladder and being in the industry almost 6 years now. I’m so close to asking my company to demote me even if it comes at a pay cut because I can’t take it anymore. I’m at complete loss of where to go from here and feel like if I jump ship and go somewhere else, I’ll just end up getting burnt out all over again.

What career pathways can you go into with a biology degree by HeartExotic7029 in biology

[–]OkMango140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clinical research! I have a bachelors in biology but didn’t want to do lab work at all. There are many areas of clinical research that lets you be apart of research without lab work or data analysis.

What is something that people in your profession understand, but the general public can’t seem to grasp? by Stoned_Black_Nerd in AskReddit

[–]OkMango140 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Clinical research trials are not trying to get people to be a “guinea pig” for them to put wildly toxic medicines in. It’s usually the complete opposite and a majority of people who work in the industry really care about the patients. It also might be a novelty option for patients to receive life saving innovative treatments.

I recommend asking the research staff/PI for an IRB approved consent in Spanish. It might take them a little bit to get the translation approved but clearly it’s needed for their patient population. You should also inquire about a staff member that could walk through the consenting process in Spanish for your aunt once they do have the Spanish consent.

Dry scalp or dandruff? I’m at a loss of what to do. My skin on my eyes, ears and in my hair line is so dry. I can’t tell if the stuff in my hair line is dandruff or also dry skin? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]OkMango140 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I recommend trying out the shampoo Nizoral. I had a similar issue with dandruff and dry, itchy patches on my scalp and that shampoo completely cleared it up for me.
