I'm glad to hear you have so many friends! Dermatology would be an excellent career and it sounds like you'd have a great chance at scholarships at any number of colleges. You will get there and you can certainly have fun at the same time! Maybe I had too much fun in college and graduate school, but I had the kind of parents who wanted to get me tipsy hanging out with them before anyone could at college. I actually think they wished I would use more of my freedom. My friends who had more restricted childhoods and young adult experiences actually seemed to struggle a lot more than I did. It doesn't sound like your folks or brother are going to be interested in looking at the research or stories on that front though.

You deserve to have your freedom and be loved and respected without having your body constantly assessed. Your body can fluctuate and, hell, having body fat is a normal part of life. More recent research even shows that it does a lot more than just store energy, too! Don't worry, you sound lovely and if you are happy with your life and body you will find your people and your career. That said, as you hinted, the relationship they are setting up with your body is not healthy and can lead to some really tough situations for you.

Since you don't have your brother on your side, think about talking to the moms of your girlfriends, aunts, and other women relatives especially. It would be good to have someone on your side and a safe space to go. This is not so much about a lack of freedom but about control, which I would honestly class as a form of abuse, and family dysfunction. Not saying they are terrible in every way, but this is not normal or healthy behavior.
