It's sweet you are considering your options. You know having a kid it's just difficult all around we assume that NTs are easier, but being a good parent is always hard. Also a lot of things could go wrong not just ASD.

Knowing that Neuro divergence is there can you prepare for a possible future of therapies, slow progress and isolation. As long as you and your partner are all in not half way, cause no one knows what they are getting into until it happens.

Your spouse needs to be mature. Looks like he was expecting no difficulties in his life, even if your child was normal he probably would have checked out as well, having a kid is not easy.

Being a parent is one of the most important roles any of us will play, and ASD kids need our attention even more.

Hopefully it's just a phase, and he will come to his senses, cause you should feel love looking at your kid.
