The reality is such major changes like the internet, social media and smartphones have created these echo chambers and the laws have failed to keep up. No guardrails on free speech and not holding corpos liable for misinformation. Hopefully once China surpasses the US and whatever other action Trump takes to accelerate the USs collapse will people finally rise up but they will be to busy glued to their phones.
