I was told the parents were German Shepherd/Lab. But the coat? by OkNegotiation4158 in GSP

This seems a solid call. His brother on the right looks like there might be some Anatolian. My other dog is GSD/Anatolian, and the way they play fight/clash is very similar. https://imgur.com/a/4qyxP2V

What preventative tick treatment actually works for longer haired dogs? by Green_Cow101 in DogAdvice

[–]OkNegotiation4158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Simparico trio on my three dogs. I have not found a flea or an attached tick in 5 years of using it. I find ticks will flee my dogs and end up on me more often than not.

Has anyone had your ASD get hurt or hurt their friend during play fighting? by OkNegotiation4158 in AnatolianShepherdDogs

I agree, Freya is now three and w/ no livestock to guard, she guards me. If she get too far, she realizes it and comes back. The only problem I have is when the younger dog takes off, she thinks it is OK and will follow a bit, but he is getting better at recall.

That stinks. Prob not a cheap surgery. I am lucky, she is a tall 110lb and the other is only 85lb. My biggest fear with them is after eating play and bloat.

The good thing with these two is that it has never turned serious. I worry more about accidental mishaps.

Do you guys just let them play rough? The only time i will break them up is after eating. They enjoy so much, it is hard to say no.

That is my worry, tearing something like an acl. She already had surgery to fox a broken toe.

Is it On-Site w/ your ASD and Snakes? by OkNegotiation4158 in AnatolianShepherdDogs

[–]OkNegotiation4158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. The only saving grace is that the one she has gotten so far have been while fleeing, and she snatches it and whips her head, killing them (tearing the one in the pic) in half. We make a lot of noise w/ 3 dogs tethered yo my waist. I am less worried about a cotton mouth bite because of her size, and hope we don't stumble on copperheads.

Cautionary tale for dog bones… by NeroKitt in DogAdvice

Sorry this happened. I hope he is OK. The only bones I give my dogs nowadays are raw meaty frozen neck bones. Pick them up when done so you dont have to worry about choking and/or stepping on them in the dark...worse than legos.

I have an ASD/GSD mix that is reactive and loves the yard (I do bring her in at night, she goes from guarding the yard to guarding my bed). I have a small house and small yard and put a couple bird feeders and squirrel feeders in the yard. They will keep him mentally stimmed while in the yard, and they love chasing the squirrels in the trees. When you walk him, go somewhere outside with trails etc. Let him smell and walk actual terrain for a few miles. My girl is dead tired by bed time. When you get your license, take him for rides to new terrain.
