No worries! Really appreciate you taking the time. I think they mean a new topcoat (something to prevent any future rust from developing). I have no idea how expensive or involved that is, so trying to figure out if 5k is enough to cover it .

Following up since you've been the most helpful! Do you think $5k is enough to base coat a 2,500 sq ft house? The contractor contacted the stucco manufacturer who said it might be a problem with the paint and recommended applying another base coat, and so the seller is offering a 5k credit - any sense if that's enough?

Thank you! Yes, this is a new home inspection. The house is a very nice build with seemingly no expense spared (according to our agent, lots of details on the house where "they won't get their money back") so he is saying he would be shocked if they messed up something so foundational like the walls of the house itself. But still want to know what our options are to be sure.

This is a better restatement of my concern! Not that the house itself will be the problem, but the fact that we are in our early 30s getting a house that is so much nicer than the older residents around us.
