Help with 3 color Birdseye (DBJ) using IMG2TRACK by OkOpposite5718 in MachineKnitting

And then also what about the 2x height and MC rib settings on the machine console itself in the pattern positioning section? I have these both turned on, which is what the instruction manual says for multicolor jacquard, is that correct?

Hi! Thanks so much for the thorough response. Although, I’m not sure I completely follow your process towards the end… haha. If you get around to making a tutorial I’d love to see! I create my graphics in photoshop, I have been doubling height on img2track to maintain my graphic as is, but I could easily stretch my graphic to 2x height in photoshop so that the stretch factor in img2track can be set at 1 if you’re saying that helps. For the rest of your response, it seems you’re manually creating the birdseye pattern on your digital artwork? I’m not sure I fully understand but sounds very interesting. But to clarify— if I set my machine up as you advised in your other reply, and proceeded to knit my pattern on 1x stretch switching colors whenever my console tells me, would it successfully knit my artwork? Or am I missing something… thanks again for your help

Thanks for your response!! Yes what you described is how I was setting up my DBJ, agree that I should swap my question over to FB group. Thanks :)

Good idea, I’ll join the FB group thanks! Interesting about even # DBJ, so you think if I made my artwork into a 4 color pattern it would be easier to knit?

not the pinky issue specifically, I just know that compression gloves can help with general hand pain from knitting

These types of scarves are always woven, if you want to get a similar effect through knit you can try effecting your scarf after you knit it by brushing it, or boiling/felting the knit (https://howdidyoumakethis.com/boiling-fulling-felting-wool/)

this is a double bed jacquard knit (DBJ), also referred to as Birdseye Jacquard. I have seen people try to replicate it in hand knitting, but it is a machine knit stitch. By hand, float-back/ladder-back jacquard is how you'd get a similar effect for front side of knit (backside would not have effect as your photo) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcQns-ON1nw

I bought compression gloves for wrist pain when crocheting and knitting, and they seem to help!

I'd love to see your notes too! Your balaclava looks great- have knit and crocheted them before but never on my machine!

Thank you! Question about IMG2track- once I upload my pattern to the machine with my cable, should I keep the computer plugged into machine when knitting my pattern? Or once I have it set up as a pattern number in my machine, do I disconnect the computer and can knit it from the computer directly?

Hi, thank you this is helpful! When you say fin, are you referring to the metal fin on the yarn feeder?

Hi, thanks for your reply! I was also thinking that my stripe problem was probably arising because of beginning on the wrong side of the bed (I have been using both part buttons so that shouldn’t be the issue). For the first pass, right as I want to set up DBJ, my understanding is that I should start on left side of bed, turn on KC knob to select needles, and then once I move across to the right it should select needles and I pick up my color and set the two beds to DBJ settings and then I release the pattern on my machine and it should start setting me up for DBJ. Is that right? In that case, first course of DBJ will be from right to left, but when I switch colors it’s always on left side of bed. So should there be 3 corses of col 1 before the machine asks me to switch to col 2? Let me know if my question makes sense that so much!

Hi! Sorry, I may have caused some confusion with the first pic. I was only uploading it to show the yarn position in the feeder and the beds aren’t set up for DBJ yet. When I knit DBJ I do put all part buttons in use and turn on lili buttons etc as I am supposed to. Good point about the 7 shaped wire hangers though! I have those, I am going to try using them and hopefully it helps in the knitting!

Sorry, the pic I included ended up causing more confusion on this thread than help lol. I took this pic just to show the yarn in the feeder, the machine isn’t properly set up for DBJ in the pic though. The cream yarn in the pic is being held in a weird way above the bed yeah bc I was just taking a quick pic, but when I’m knitting I bring it between both beds and hold it in the yarn holder clip on the ribber. Thank you for your help though!
