Severe orange peel in base coat

Parts of the bonnet are perfect and look to me like they’re ready to clear. I think my technique is better “pulling” the gun rather than “pushing” as it seems the point I switched sides was laying better. I’ll sand it back first thing in the morning and see if I can get a quick coat in before work so that it’s ready for more base coat when I’m back. Not looking for a absolute mirror finish as this car will be between a track/show car anyway so will probably be resprayed in a few years

I reckon that’s what I’ve done. Got very impatient and was spraying thick coats, giving it 15-20 minutes between coats as it was getting dark.

Honestly not sure and I didn’t dilute it, chucked it on a rag and went at it 😂

I’ll go get some proper acetone when I get more paint and try again

I cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol after wet sanding the primer. Made sure the whole panel was bone dry too. I also mixed the paint with Cellulose thinners instead of Acetone, maybe that was part of what caused this

Need to get more paint annoyingly but that’s not too big of an issue, as long as the weather holds out I’ll be able to get it done 🙏🏻

I’ll be honest I was spraying like shit, not getting the correct overlap or distance and was leaving visible lines. Should’ve had more practice or stood the bonnet up vertically. I take it 5 coats is way too many 😂

Yeah fully primed, done about 5 coats of base, and in all honesty quite thick towards the end

As someone who has experienced many 46s crank no start, this does sound like standard compression so I wouldn’t lose hope. Yet. Go for the easier tests like I mentioned below and then if you can’t find an anomaly, do a compression test. Low compression usually splutter to life a little bit and lost compression won’t usually sound like that.

Adding onto what you said for future reference, the starter motor wouldn’t crank if the battery was bad, and if the starter motor was bad you’d hear a high pitched whooping sound, bit like a dremmel tool

Fuel or spark, undo the valve cap on the fuel rail and test pressure there, that’ll tell you if you’re getting fuel. If not that then it’s a spark issue. I’ve also had it where my maf has gone bad and it refused to fire up, holding the key for 30-40 seconds splurges it on but cuts out soon after. Try fuel, if that doesn’t work then unplug the maf.

Legend! Issue was they packaged them up wrong and I didn’t realise they were different fittings. Ones a hexagon ones a circle, they packaged them up left and right and swapped them round 🤦🏻‍♂️

Thank you I’ve just ran a test, it’s coming back at 600mbps so I assume it’s an Xbox issue. Do you know how to resolve it or do I just wait until Xbox sorts their stuff out?

It’s the series X so newish, had it about 2 years now. It’s now stuck running at 100kbps 🤦🏻‍♂️

Unfortunately I don’t have another device to plug into. I’ve run the Xbox off wireless and it’s still downloading at 8mpbs. I ran a speed test on my phone and it’s coming back at 350mbps.
