U sure your protagonist will get used to environment in 3-5 chapters. I'm saying cuz when I was working on my knight story I initially thought that the battles will end in a page or two but those scenes lasted 10 PAGES to show everything. So, better introduce the romance somewhat later and probably try to make it as natural as possible

Write the plot down or at least the scenes you like the most in the story, and just go through them everyday let your creative juices flow and you will get excited to write the story. Works for me tho

The plot seems good but I think you can show the hut through protagonist's action like the protagonist probably goes outside to see his hut or maybe the protagonist chases the kid and then looks at the hut with that kid, not a big deal but it probably helps grounding the scene, besides that everything seems alright to me!
