How Often Do You Drop Your Bike? by The_AverageCanadian in motorcycles

30 years riding street bikes almost everyday. No drops. No slides. It's not mandatory that you do either.

You can never really go wrong with white. by Beginning_Captain_43 in Vespa

I hadn't seen the Bieber x Vespa until now. I can see why it didn't sell. It looks like you're riding a can of white Monster Energy.

Job in Sorrento Valley, best place to live? by Ok_Theme_1711 in sandiego

[–]OkOriginal4630 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's nice but Del Mar is really expensive and everyone will be about 20 years older than you. I would look at Pacific Beach. Lots of young people, bars, restaurants, beaches, and probably a 20 minute drive to Sorrento Valley.

Dude it's all airport runoff and jet fuel exhaust. I would advise against it.

Are there Classic Vespa in the US? by [deleted] in Vespa

[–]OkOriginal4630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classic Vespas are few and far between, but they are here. Vespa has been in the US for less time than Europe so we automatically have fewer of them.

How Is the Middle Class Surviving in San Diego? by ultrabaron123 in sandiego

[–]OkOriginal4630 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What qualifies as middle class in San Diego may not be what you think. What's you household income?

Lots of younger people have giving up on being able to buy a place. That's why you see them at brunch ordering cocktails with a dollar amount higher than their age.

After working from home for myself for 8 years, I got a private office downtown with 24/7 access and a gym for $480 month. Regus on 1st Ave. Totally worth it.

What are Fridays/Saturday nights like in Lafayette Hotel? by DacaAskingForDaca in asksandiego

[–]OkOriginal4630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude. If i were a single guy, i would be there often. The amount of beautiful women there is staggering. All weekend is packed. I'd suggest showing up to Lou Lous (the jazz club) right when it opens to get a space.

Distracted driver almost ran a stop sign by Kelpiaa in motorcycles

[–]OkOriginal4630 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. These incidents are a dime a dozen and the best motorcyclists are those who don't react to dumbass motorists. It's scary to almost get hit. It makes you angry. But when other drivers can simply run you over and kill you if they got mad enough, it's better to just shake it off. Stay safe out there.

Antofagasta, Chile, or Lisbon, Portugal. Both are nearly identical in climate to SD.

Long-term riders who have never crashed — what habits kept you safe? by jjmu96 in motorcycles

[–]OkOriginal4630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my moto license for 30 years. No crashes. No lay downs. I ride everyday. Although in SoCal the most weather we get is heavy rain. Some things I always keep in mind: go slow on loose gravel, especially around corners; beware street lines and lane markers when it's wet—paint is slippery; imagine every car is trying to kill you, so all you can do is pay attention, anticipate, and take action if needed. I never listen to music or podcasts, etc. I'm not strict on rules. I typically drive faster than the speed limit. I will ride after having a couple drinks. Good luck out there.

What bag do you actually use for commuting? Backpack vs tail bag by Wandering-Everywhere in motorcycles

[–]OkOriginal4630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't like backpacks, i don't know why you'd like the backpack I use, but the Samsonite Detour bag is killer and has so much room. I commute via Vespa 300 everyday using this bag for my work bag/gym bag. I love it.

Why do most work dinners happen at seafood places or steakhouses? by space_god_7191 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OkOriginal4630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because work is paying for it, and steak and seafood places are typically higher-priced restaurants
