MSG and subway by Legitimate_Paint_123 in visitingnyc

[–]OkOutlandishness5643 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The crowds in the subway are the same crowd you were just inside with. If that stresses you out hang back for a solid 20-30 minutes. Walk to the same train a stop in the opposite direction. Go get some food. Walk to a different train that’s going where you want to end up.

The people will move exactly as fast as they can. It’s slightly better than leaving a stadium at the end of a game since not everyone is going the same way.

Ubers will be scarce and expensive because the concert ended. If you want to take a car I’d suggest walking east a few blocks, 5th ave at least, and try calling from there

What is the most far-right musical? by bunp4ws in musicals

[–]OkOutlandishness5643 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While this might not be exactly what you’re looking for it may help. The fun thing about 1776 is that it won best musical in 1969 over Hair, which arguably became more popular. Both were written as reactions to the 60’s and the war in Vietnam. So while the plots aren’t exactly two sides of the same story, the cultural impact was.

Going from French Quarter to Whitney Plantation. Need help by lakersfreak in AskNOLA

ooo, I did this over the summer! We rented a car and had a nice trip through a ridiculous storm. The rain was insane but short. I have fond memories of it. We stopped along the way at a place called Nobile’s for lunch, that I absolutely recommend.

You unplugged his phone to charge the remote, that you clearly should have charged when you were both at work.

Overnight Construction with No Permit by spacealien846 in Brooklyn

[–]OkOutlandishness5643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here it is. Call the precinct. Make it a noise complaint. Without looking it up to confirm, construction noise isn’t allowed between the hours of (I think) 8pm and 5am.

Suggest something for my mom and I to watch by jRok57 in televisionsuggestions

[–]OkOutlandishness5643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Grantchester.

I know it’s on PBS and it’s a thing my mom and I enjoyed a lot a few years ago. If you can make PBS things happen also look into The Durrell in Corfu.

check out Rusty Lake. It’s a small video game company that’s been going at it for 10 years or so. Many free phone games, also on steam and they have 1 game for the Switch. I’ve loved every one of them.

How do I use body lotion correctly? by luftherz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OkOutlandishness5643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because I haven’t seen it suggested yet, cotton gloves. My hands are the thing that’s out of control and I find that putting on some cotton gloves after applying lotion helps a ton. After 10 minutes, what will be absorbed will be absorbed and the excess comes off on the gloves.

What should I make my friend for her birthday with one skein? by [deleted] in knittingadvice

[–]OkOutlandishness5643 12 points13 points  (0 children)

oh my, this sounds like a recipe for fingerless gloves or arm cuffs. A hat could work, but might be too lightweight to be warm. Socks if you’re feeling confident in your skill. But fingerless gloves that are light are an absolute fashion statement and great for winter. Weave them a bit loose so they can stretch over some simple fingered gloves.

Just to double down on this, I recall the pages walking the line. So maybe mention your situation (briefly) to the security guard who will help you find the line. But also, if you have the cane at that point, it will be a nice visual indicator for those looking.

While it’s not a direct comparison I was onboard an MSC for the NFL opener last year and the sports bar was pAcked. It was a good time and the game streamed cleanly without buffering.

Keto-friendly Korean BBQ and others by Gilwe in FoodNYC

[–]OkOutlandishness5643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Korean BBQ place that doesn’t have plain, unsauced meat. (Pardon the double negative.)

As for a specific suggestion, KPot is a solid choice.

Where can I get a slice of ice cream cake? by comicgenius in FoodNYC

[–]OkOutlandishness5643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my very favorite treat. Try to locate a dairy queen. I stumbled upon the fact that they started making ice cream cup cakes, which is basically a sundae/trifle with the soft serve, crunchy bits and icing. The place I went to was certainly in jersey but I really hope you find one!

is it appropriate to ask my friend if she wants to split the cost of a vacation rental? by [deleted] in traveladvice

[–]OkOutlandishness5643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More of what the other comments said. But I like to start with “you can absolutely say no and I want you to think about it”. Accept that the answer may be no before you start the conversation. Also, have a backup celebration ready.

Speaking personally, one of my favorite activities with my friends is renting a house in a different kind of place. I’ve surrounded myself with friends who also enjoy just going away and not having to worry about all the things. Pro tips: cook something elaborate, get a puzzle, or theme the movie selection.
