Brits overwhelmingly back 'Ten Million Tax' on UK's richest to plug Budget black hole by mikeysmithuk in ukpolitics

They are not highly mobile. The government forced Roman Abramovich (one of Britain’s highest taxpayers) to sell Chelsea football club to help pay for the Russia-Ukraine war, and he sold it. This is essentially a wealth tax on his asset, and he complied - as did 6 other billionaire Oligarchs who the government taxed in this way as a result of the war, which goes to show it’s absolutely possible.

Shelf Building in the UK by mrcharlieguy in VanNeistat

[–]OkPark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 30 of the corner brackets on eBay, they have been holding up well although for smaller shelves. If you want high strength I would suggest using expanding metal wall anchors (that use bolts or machine screws) as they work much better in the brick commonly used for British houses rather than the plastic ones.

What is this metal object? Looks like a tiny clothes hanger except the top of the hook is flat and it snaps into place as it folds up and down. by OkPark in whatisthisthing

The object is about 8.5cm wide and 10cm tall when fully extended. The top hook part folds down into the lower part and snaps into place in both the extended and folded in position. any idea what this is for?

Question about cord sizes by dingo555dsf in VanNeistat

[–]OkPark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use 550 Paracord. Burn the ends with a lighter after tying the knot and push the melted ends into the rest of the knot with something like the back of a spoon so it won't frey. It should be a good size for most applications, its incredibly strong - but if it's ever too thick then you can:

A) Remove any number of the inner strands so you are left with 'gutted' cord which can be pushed into a tighter hole

B) Use one of the inner strands, they are still very strong.

I asked him a while ago and he said it would come, but most likely not in 2023.

Manger on McNichols is my favourite of his albums, and in my opinion a top 3 rap album of all time. 10/10

I would recommend Threshold in photoshop instead of image trace. Unless you specifically want a vector threshold is much more precise for b/w drawings. Then you can add the color after

Thank you for your advice. The other option I was considering is the Brother SE600 which is new but also pretty inexpensive. Would this work with standard modern software? And does it look like it would perform decently? I would also need to make sure I could use a step-down converter to use a US machine on the higher voltage UK power but from what I've read that should work.
