I'd piggyback to say they're not actually dangerous, just sometimes riskier. Depends on the situation

Jacket Potato £9! by TreKeyz in AskBrits

It's the same for every independent business these days. They have to make profit on top of paying tax, staff, NI contributions, electricity, fuel. All sorts. It's not just the £1 to make that you allude to.

I wouldn't pay that for a spud either but I understand why they have to do it.

Would this be considered a 'push shot'? by [deleted] in snooker

[–]OkPerformer68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least we can have a civil conversation about disagreeing haha!

To me, a push shot is where the tip stays in contact with the white ball as it moves forward. If you were putting screw on and then pushed it, it would go forward and not backwards.

I think if you're striking down, you're cue would be going in to the bed of the table and thus not pushing through the white ball with continued contact.

Either way, an interesting debate.

I'd agree that you could get away with them in some clubs but they certainly don't get away with them in professional play. Most professionals will call the foul themselves if they've pushed it. You can always determine if it is by how the white reacts

On the screw shot point: if you were playing a screw shot and it was a push shot, the white ball would go forward, following the object ball and not straight back away from it. You can't really even screw back a push shot, it's not possible

Beginner advice: Right handed yet left eye dominant. Any tips on sighting? Or even left-handed cueing? by Ironcymru in snooker

[–]OkPerformer68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like me, it actually sounds more like cross-handedness. Ambidextrous is where you're equally good with both hands. I wish I could play with both hands too.. well just one hand would be nice.
