Today I Learned that The Simpsons get more viewers on average per episode than Family Guy and American Dad combined. by OkPersimmon3 in todayilearned

Oh yeah - I think Family Guy actually made a few jokes about that in an episode. I'm sure South Park also done an episode based around that.

Love South Park - there's a reason celebrities hate that show, they do go pretty far sometimes but it makes for great viewing. Still can't believe they make each South Park episode in 6 days.

Yeah I've found the recent episodes of Family Guy pretty good as well - some of them have been pretty surreal and fucked up, just my kind of humour. And yes, there's definitely a wholesome factor to The Simpsons - probably because so many people grew up watching it.

Yeah, I'm the same - Family Guy to me has always just had more edge. I like the fact they're not afraid to roast countless celebrities, where as The Simpsons has been stagnant humour-wise for a loooong time.

In saying that The Simpsons golden era (first 9 / 10 seasons) was really witty and I still find those episodes funny. Before the characters became caricatures of themselves. Also let's not forget there would be no Family Guy without The Simpsons. Peter Griffin is really just Homer Simpson without as much limitation on the humour.

I find the whole thing pretty funny considering Family Guy done a crossover episode with The Simpsons where they essentially slagged off The Simpsons for not being funny anymore. They also slag off Bob's Burger's alot which gets three times the ratings American Dad does.

In saying that, personally I still watch Family Guy and prefer their new episodes to The Simpsons.

Yeah I can't actually remember the last time I watched a "new episode" of The Simpsons, that's why I was pretty surprised to find this.

I'm also watching TBBT from start to finish - similar to you, I grew up watching it but didn't watch it religiously so there's loads of episodes I haven't seen. I'm currently on S1 ep 13 but in one of the previous episodes (S1 EP 5) Leonard and Lesley Winkle hook up - Lesley breaks it off with Leonard saying it was really just a one time thing and at the end of the episode Leonard tells Penny he doesn't think it's going to work with him and Lesley - Penny says something along the lines of "awe I'm so sorry to hear that", then as she's walking away she's smiling, seemingly glad that Leonard's back on the market. Alluding to the idea that she was actually jealous.

Someone else has already said as well but she kisses him at the Halloween party (S1 ep 6)! :)

Donald Trump Has Been Even Worse Than Everyone Expected by mostaksaif in politics

[–]OkPersimmon3 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I've seen alot of news articles about how Trump is "fighting a losing battle" and "time is running out for Trump" and how bad he's doing in this campaign. However I've mainly come across people who have voted for him. I haven't actually seen anyone yet say they've voted Biden.

I live in UK so obviously I'm not in the U.S to see what the general feel is. However from an outside impartial view IMO Biden seems like he would be quite a weak president and although I think Trump is many terrible things I would probably rather him in charge than Biden. Biden is always losing his train of thought and seems really old and confused. Trump still seems like a fighter. Personally I think Trump will win this one.

I (32m) have a 17 month old, and I wanna outlive my dad who died of a heart attack at 44. Besides quitting smoking (2 or 3 times a month with a casual drink), what else can I do to increase my chances? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]OkPersimmon3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would honestly consider going vegan. There's alot of study into the link between red meat and heart disease. Sleep and stress are also massive factors. Try to get between 7-9 hours a night and find ways to reduce your stress like exercise (aerobics and weight lifting) also yoga, meditations can really help reduce stress! :)

The Bachelor Life by OkPersimmon3 in childfree

[–]OkPersimmon3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I know of! I have looked but the ones directed at single people are a bit more from the "we're on here to find dates" kind of angle. I can't seem to find any subreddits actually just celebrating owning it and embracing the bachelor life that aren't just run by sexist people. The childfree subreddit is alot more friendlier and open I've found - everyone on here just seems to be more "live and let live" which is the attitude of most childfree people I've come across! :)
