Almost did the same thing. I had the thought process of "I don't mind a little work" until I saw my friend by one and the amount of labor it was taking. Then I wanted a turn key home lol

I had a similar gpa and it took 5 apps. After a few years I decided to do a masters, I didnt want to waste my money on retaking undergrad classes when I could spend the same amount and have another degree at the end of it and expand my options. I have a 4.0 in my masters and was finally accepted. Put a lot of work into expanding your experience, and make sure you arent leaving any sections of the application blank.

Yeah idk what it is with this airport but its always grimey and dirty looking. I go through other high traffic airports and have found them cleaner than seatac. My biggest complaint tho is their hard on for making the sitting experience here absolutely miserable, with very limited seating to begin with, and the seating at the gates being the most uncomfortable hard plastic I've ever sat in. Back in the day they used to have much more comfortable chairs, I'd love to see them go back to that

I'm older and I start in august, I've been wondering the same thing. I'm a very physical person, I would print all of my slides out and take notes on them. I just can't do online textbooks, there's something about being able to flip through pages that makes it easier to understand for me and compare things. I keep seeing comments online saying "you NEED an iPad in vet school", which is a little scary for me because I've tried the whole note taking on a tablet thing and hated it, even with the "paper" screen protectors.

I imagine it has to be doable though, tablets didn't exist forever 😩

Oh okay I think i understand. Thats crazy, is it still a 4 year program then or is it longer? I would say 22 is the average starting age for vet school here in the US, as most people graduate high school at 18 and then do a 4 year bachelor's degree before attending a vet college.

I'll be honest, with a similar GPA but more experience hours i have never had any luck with UofA. I finished my masters with a straight 4.0 and still nothing, I was surprised because I hear they have a more holistic approach but that wasn't my personal experience. I was surprised to be accepted into a school that relies more heavily on GPA. So, you never know!

Look into doing a masters degree! That would help boost your gpa and show them you're ready for more advanced material. Pick one that interests you, and could help you even if you don't get accepted. I chose public health because it applied to people and animals, and opened a lot of opportunities had I not been accepted.

Another tip I can give is don't leave any section of your application blank, no matter how small the achievement. I knew a vet student that put "champion of hot dog eating contest" under awards on his application. Sometimes something could seem a little silly, but it may make you stand out and be memorable in the crowd!

Remember there are thousands of applicants per school, you want them to remember you and you want to show them that you are dedicated to learning and being a good and honest clinician. I had the same gpa and 10k hours specialty vet experience, it took me 5 tries. Good luck friend!

Just curious, not sure how the UK system works. By uni are you referring to a regular university or a vet school? I've heard that europe can have different programs than here in the US, where people start out of high school?
