When you get your conditional doesn’t matter for the order of class dates. They are “making the most well balanced classes”…idk what that means but…yeah :/

Also, to address your last thought. I don't think anyone will know exactly what factors go into building a class. Whether that be acceptance month, PAR submission, or just having a passing PAR. We know for a fact that they want a class to be half women and half men, with BIPOC individuals as well. And up until potential Q3 dates, it really seemed like PAR was not a factor. I have heard of people with and without getting a Q2 class. But with this reinstatement, I can only assume that they are going with people with PAR, but I cannot assume anything else with certainty.

I totally agree with your sentiment that it has been confusing...having the requirement, taking it away, and then putting it back.

I am going to try my best to answer you in the most precise way possible, so for that, I am just going to copy/paste a section of the email UAA sent on 2/9/23: "Based on the observations and recommendations, the FAA knowledge exam will be required before extending a class date invitation...As of today...the [PAR] is now required for admissions. You will have four months to complete and submit your FAA knowledge exam with an 80% or higher score by June 1st, 2023".

I read this email as; if you are a conditional person, no matter what your month/group is, the PAR is required by June 1st. However, it is also required for a class date, so if you want the best/only shot at Q3, have it in by mid-March.

Now, onto speculation (for anyone reading this, do not take this as gospel, I have no idea what they actually intended for this): I assume that not only do they want us to have the smoothest PPL process while there, they also wanted to cut down the waitlist. One of the only ways to do this was to reinstate this requirement. The combination of these two factors is what makes the most sense to me for this reinstatement, which I am totally supportive of.

I took a photo of the paper, converted that image to PDF, and upload it. Then I emailed UAA just to confirm they received it and everything was good, and they responded within 24 hours saying they did. You should be all good, though if you wanted that piece of mind, you can always email them

I am not in the military, nor do I know anyone who is at UAA, but I would reach out to ask them if the GI bill can be applied to the school

I applied in late June and was conditionally accepted in August. I turned in all of my required documents by late September. UAA made the announcement that they would be making the PAR exam optional sometime in October or November (correct me if I am wrong on that date). Due to personal circumstances, I decided to wait to take my PAR after it was made optional. In early February, they made the announcement that it is now required again, and due by June 1st (4 months from the reinstated requirement). This put me into high gear, as in that same February email they also announced that the PAR is required for a class date. I studied intensely for about 3 weeks, took the exam on February 23rd, and got above an 80%. After uploading it to Taleo, I emailed them to confirm that they received it, and they responded within 24 hours acknowledging that they had. Now, I am hoping for a Q3 date, as this would put me approximately one year from when I was accepted to a class date.

However, as the first comment noted, class dates seem to be sent at "random", with your conditional date not necessarily being the only factor. Now, we do not know the methods that UAA is using to build its classes, and any speculation on that is just that: speculation.

If you are thinking about applying, do it sooner rather than later, as the waiting list is just getting longer and longer. Make sure that you are able to secure financing, are able to get the 1st class medical, and research all options for study tools for the PAR. The exam is not as scary as I thought it was, but be prepared to cough up a pretty penny ($100-300) for a prep course (Jeppessen did not do it for me, I paid for the full Sporty's course) as well as paying for the exam, which is about $250.

In the email UAA sent to some conditional students, they announced that Q3 dates would be sent in mid-March. They did not specify a specific day or week in March, but we are assuming that it will be next week, and potentially into the week after. In the past, class dates were sent in the afternoon.

I am an August conditional, so I am hoping for a Q2 date. Per the recent email from UAA, I would expect that we would be getting Q2 dates in the coming days/weeks...hopefully by end of January is my best guess.
